From April 25th to 27th, the 2024 3rd China (Qiu County) Food Expo, co-sponsored by China Food Industry Association and Hebei Food Industry Association, and undertaken by Qiu County Food Industry Association, was held at Qiu County Kunpeng International Convention and Exhibition Center. This is the third national food expo held in Qiu County, more than 500 food companies from all over the country gathered together, a total of more than 35,000 buyers and visitors, on-site sales of more than 6 million yuan, more than 260 cooperation agreements signed, and more than 8,000 yuan of intended transactions.

The national food expo can be held continuously in Qiu County, which has a deep origin. In just ten years, Qiu County has grown up 204 food enterprises of various types, including 78 productive enterprises and 126 upstream and downstream supporting enterprises, forming a pattern of competition between the four major factions of Beijing, Guangdong, Fujian and Qiu, and building a relatively complete industrial chain from raw material supply, primary processing, deep processing, product research and development, business incubation, inspection and testing, etc., and has become a strong county in the national food industry in one fell swoop.

As early as 2014, Qiu County seized the strategic opportunity of the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and introduced the first Beijing-based food enterprise in Qiu County, Hebei Dofur Food Co., Ltd. Subsequently, a number of well-known enterprises such as Jiweixuan, Sister Ma, and Vermont have settled in Qiu County. Since then, a large number of food enterprises such as Weimeng, Xinmeng, Zhongke Kangsheng, Angus and so on have been put into operation, and Qiu County has built Beijing Food Industrial Park, Dongguan Food Industrial Park, Halal Food Industrial Park and Food Industry Cluster. In 2023, the food industry cluster will achieve an operating income of 12.01 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.17%, of which 22 industrial enterprises above the designated food scale will complete an output value of 2.432 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 26.05%.

From 2021 onwards, Qiu County attaches great importance to the holding of the Food Expo, taking it as an important starting point for expanding the "circle of friends", enhancing the city's image, enhancing the city's comprehensive competitiveness and radiating power, and going all out to do a good job in various service guarantees.

At the end of May 2021, the first Qiu Food Fair was successfully held at the Handan International Convention and Exhibition Center, and the tension appeared.

On November 12, 2023, the 2nd Qiu Food Fair ended at the Kunpeng International Convention and Exhibition Center in Qiu County, bringing together 232 exhibitors, attracting more than 20,000 people, and 118 exhibitors signed 208 agreements with intended customers.

On April 21 this year, at the press conference before the opening of the 3rd China (Qiu County) Food Expo, Bian Lei, deputy director of the Convention and Exhibition Department of the China Food Industry Association, said that the food industry is an important pillar industry for the development of the mainland's national economy, and it is also the most dynamic and innovative sunrise industry. Qiu County Food Expo can build a food expo platform based in Handan Qiu County, radiating Hebei and looking at the whole country, promote the transformation and upgrading of the local service industry, and promote the high-quality development of the county economy.

The exhibition area of this food expo is 50,000 square meters, and there are more than 500 exhibitors, which is more than double the more than 230 exhibitors in the second session.

Indeed, the organizers of the exhibition adhere to the standardization, process and safety of the exhibition, and have made great efforts in service guarantee. Li Linze, the person in charge of selling Malaysia's old platform coffee, led a team from Xiamen to participate in the exhibition for the third time. Last year, they sold 3,000 boxes of coffee at the second Qiu Food Fair and recruited two larger customers, including a customer in Shijiazhuang who has bought 600,000 yuan of goods from them. Li Linze said: "The 'food, accommodation and transportation' here are very convenient. The government provides free venues, sets up booths, and also provides free accommodation and food, and if exhibitors come by plane or high-speed rail, they also enjoy pick-up services. Before 2013, there were only two primary processing enterprises of agricultural products in Qiu County: Kangyuan Halal and Ruima Flour Industry. After the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy was put forward in 2014, Qiu County docked for the first time, and in July 2014, the first "Jingzitou" enterprise was introduced. Under the recommendation of Dofur Food, the successful introduction of Jiweixuan, Ma Dajie, Vermont and other projects has formed a "grape cluster effect" that introduces one and drives a batch. In October 2017, the Ma Dajie project with a total investment of 2.2 billion yuan was put into operation, marking the beginning of the scale of the "Beijing" food enterprise in Qiu County.

After 2018, Qiu County expanded its investment promotion horizon and sent stationed investment promotion teams to Guangdong, Fujian and other places, attracting projects such as Huapu Sunshine and Zhongxiang Food from Fujian, Weimeng, Hechang Baishan Food and other projects from Guangdong, plus local Kangyuan Halal and Aobeisi, forming a four-major food development pattern.

In order to mobilize the local production of raw materials and allow enterprises to reduce raw materials and logistics expenses, Qiu County organized and convened the county Agriculture and Rural Bureau, relevant persons in charge of enterprises and representatives of farmers to communicate and cooperate, and from last spring, it was determined that Shengshuiwan Modern Agricultural Park was responsible for planting purple potatoes, hawthorns, carrots, etc., to provide local raw materials for food enterprises.

On the basis of expanding the total amount, Qiu County has further achieved two advantages: the first is to optimize the industrial chain. Focusing on "strengthening the chain and supplementing the chain", we introduced packaging, logistics, and e-commerce supporting enterprises such as Jingjie Media to build the Weimeng Food Testing Center project. The second advantage is to optimize the direction of development. Seize the "home" economy and prepared food outlets, based on the cattle and sheep breeding industry, with Kangyuan and Aobeisi as the leaders, to enter the prepared food market. With the implementation of Zhongke Kangsheng, Angus and Yitangfu projects, and the introduction of Bart Food, Dameng Beef and Mutton Food and other enterprises, the scale of the halal prepared food industry continues to grow. So far, the food direction of Qiu County has changed from the original single snack food to the pattern of common development of functional snack food and halal prepared food.

It is worth mentioning that local food enterprises such as Zhongke Kangsheng, Angus and Obeisi have become leading enterprises in cattle and sheep breeding and meat product processing in Qiu County. In Qiu County, beef and mutton are not only divided into fresh meat or frozen meat for sale, but also made into dumplings, buns, meat lo noodles and other prefabricated dishes, sold all over the country, exported to Qatar, Kuwait and other places, driving more than 2,000 local farmers, with an annual output of 300,000 tons of various beef and mutton products, with an output value of 7 billion yuan. In 2023, Hebei Kangyuan Halal Food Co., Ltd. will be recognized as a "leader" enterprise in the food industry cluster, achieving zero breakthroughs in the county's "leader" enterprises.

Qiu County also focuses on cultivating characteristic industrial brands, and has successfully created three regional public brands, namely "Qiu County Honey Sweet Potato", "Qiu County Wenguan Fruit" and "Qiu County Mutton", which are included in the regional public brands of famous and high-quality agricultural products in Hebei Province. It has declared more than 10 geographical indication certification trademarks such as sweet potato, silk cotton wood, beef and mutton, and cultivated a number of characteristic industries such as Liangerzhuang Wenguan fruit, Xiangcheng solid edible mushroom, Qiucheng sweet potato, and Chencun meat sheep.

From "chain extension" to "fission"

The growing scale of the food industry has also promoted the prosperity and development of the modern service industry. Qiu County has built a number of supporting projects such as inspection and testing, cold chain logistics, and built a total area of 7,000 square meters of Zhongyuan (Qiu County) food network batch base, promoting the deep integration of the food industry with e-commerce and the market, and the interactive development of online and offline, forming a "whole chain" industrial system integrating production, testing, sales, logistics and e-commerce.

Since the beginning of this year, in order to promote the fission development of the food industry, Qiu County has formulated the future development direction and plan of the food industry, based on the existing snack food and beef and mutton industry foundation, focusing on the two advantageous sectors of "functional snack food" and "halal prefabricated meal", establishing a set of quantitative indicators, clarifying the five major implementation paths, opening up a new track of "functional nutrition and prefabricated meals", innovating the new model of "mass merchandising stores, front stores and back factories, and live streaming", cultivating new business formats of "headquarters economy, exhibition economy, and online batch base", and accelerating the completion It is known as the most innovative and dynamic functional snack food industry cluster in the country" and "the largest halal beef and mutton prefabricated meal production base in China".
