In order to improve the humanistic quality and critical thinking ability of middle school students, cultivate students' positive attitude of "self-esteem, self-confidence, sunshine and upwardness", and promote the growth of students' mental health, our school organized a mental health debate competition with the theme of "Healthy Psychology, Born to the Sun" on April 19, 2024.
The debate topic of this debate competition is "whether adversity is conducive to growth", and the competition adheres to the principle of "justice, fairness and openness", and is divided into four parts: argumentation, attack, free debate and summary statement. The debaters were fully prepared and confident, and the students on both sides were firm in their positions, clear in their views, clever in asking questions, and agile in their responses, which left a deep impression on everyone.
The positive contestants take adversity as the starting point that there will be growth, and only when they grow can they better face adversity, they believe that setbacks in adversity are the driving force for growth and progress, and moderate setbacks are beneficial to the growth of students, and state the positive views in clear language.
The key to growth is the mentality and method of overcoming adversity, starting from the adverse consequences such as personality disorders that will form personality disorders if psychological pressure exceeds a certain level. The splendid debates between the two sides in the "offensive and debate stage" and the "free debate" won continuous applause and applause from the audience.
After the debate competition, several judges and teachers made comments and brief summaries of the competition. Among them, Mr. Yu Mengdi fully affirmed the active performance of the contestants on both sides in the debate, and also put forward the shortcomings that he hoped they would improve.
Teacher Jin Huaiyi concluded that the debate competition can improve the language organization and logical expression of teenagers, and at the same time exercise the students' thinking and expression skills, enhance the students' sense of teamwork, and also hope that the students can learn to care and accept themselves through the debate topics of the debate competition. After careful deliberation by the judges and teachers, the winner of the competition was declared the opposing debate team and awarded them with certificates.
As one of the psychological education activities of our school, this debate competition aims to improve students' psychological quality and ability to deal with psychological problems and popularize mental health knowledge through the form of mental health theme debate competition. Mental health is the foundation of happiness, and our school will continue to promote the mental health education of adolescents in the new era, and let students grow up healthily and happily in a warm campus environment through various forms of cultural activities.
