According to the latest reports from British media (April 11), on April 8, local time, a 27-year-old Chinese woman was found dead by the police at her home in London, with multiple stab wounds to her body.
Based on a preliminary investigation, the Metropolitan Police learned that the deceased's name was Kamonnan Thiamphanit (aka Angela) and that he had two passports, Hong Kong and Thailand.
It is understood that Thiamphanit's friends reported the case to the London police twice on the evening of April 7 (at 7:05 and 9:34 respectively), saying that they had lost contact with her and feared for her safety. Police then listed him as a "medium-risk missing person".
A neighbour of Thiamphanit also said he had heard "a series of very high screams" on the night of April 7, followed by a terrible silence.
However, the police arrived at the scene 13 hours later, at around 8:30 a.m. on April 8, forced their way into Thiamphanit's residence and found her body.
According to an autopsy issued by the London police, Thiamphanit's cause of death was "traumatic injuries from a sharp object". And because the residence was equipped with a video surveillance system, there were no alarms sounding at the time of the murder, and there was no sign of a forced break-in, and the police deduced that Thiamphanit was likely murdered by an acquaintance.
It is worth mentioning that the townhouse where Thiamphanit lives is a Grade II listed building in the United Kingdom, with a market value of about 4 million pounds, was built in the 1920s near Hyde Park, and was once the Ethiopian embassy, and is now listed on the Airbnb platform for short-term rentals to tenants.
As of now, the homicide investigation has entered its fifth day, and the scene of the crime is still cordoned off by the police, and no one has been arrested.
Photos from the scene show uniformed police officers patrolling the scene, several forensic vehicles parked outside, and the crime investigation team still working inside the apartment, where it is expected to stay for some time.
Commenting on this, Inspector Adam Clifton, the chief inspector in charge of investigations at the Metropolitan Police, said: "My team will continue to reconstruct this murder and would like to thank the local residents for their patience as we carried out the work on the ground. Thiamphanit's family and friends were shocked by the murder and I knew the news would be worrying, especially for local women. Our investigation is still in the very early stages, but I can assure you that the killers will be brought to justice. ”
