Temple Street is an important tourist check-in point in Hong Kong. If you could only choose one street to represent Hong Kong, Temple Street should be the place to be. Many people say, "If you haven't been to Temple Street, you've never been to Hong Kong." "The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has launched a new Temple Street promotion project in December 2023, with the theme of "Food Gathering Temple Street" and "Art at Temple Street", adding food stalls rich in authentic flavours and setting up a number of light-burning check-in art installations to revitalize Temple Street, which has been well received by tourists and the public. Recently, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) announced that the operation period of the Temple Street Promotion Project will be extended by half a year to December this year, and the scope of special lantern decoration will be expanded to add atmosphere to Temple Street and attract more tourists and the public. At the same time, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has also reproduced a music video for the classic song "Temple Street", featuring the unique singing voice of Wan Guang, the "King of Temple Street Singers", to interpret the beautiful scenery of Temple Street. The Executive Director of the HKTB, Mr Cheng Ting-yat, said that riding on the momentum of the "Hong Kong Night Fun" series of activities, the HKTB launched a campaign in December last year to revitalise Temple Street, and as of early April this year, it is estimated that more than 1.5 million tourists and residents have visited the city, generating more wealth and boosting consumption through popularity.
The characteristic lanterns stretch for 300 meters
At night, Temple Street is full of colors, from the noisy night market to the luminous art installation with the theme of "Art Decorating Temple Street", which is a great photo spot. The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has expanded the existing traditional lantern installation from the "Food Gathering Temple Street" stall section to the existing retail stalls, with lanterns stretching for 300 metres. Hundreds of lights bloom, adding a lively and festive atmosphere to the Temple Street area.
Continuing the lively atmosphere of Temple Street, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has invited Wan Guang, the "King of Temple Street Singers", to recreate a music video for his classic song "Temple Street" to promote Temple Street. In the MV, Yin Guang led tourists to drink beer at a food stall while tasting authentic delicacies such as Dongfeng snail and fried crab in the typhoon shelter, and then went to the night market stalls to sweep the streets. Through Wan Guang's iconic singing, the HKTB hopes to invite visitors and the public to rediscover Temple Street Night Market and taste the street food.
