History of Korea: The anniversary of the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea

It is a national commemoration day created to commemorate the passage of laws and the historical significance of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, which inherited the spirit of the March 1 Movement, and to establish a sense of national community through the history of the independence movement and to create a foundation for reunification. However, scholars believe that the date of the establishment of the Provisional Government was April 11, 1919, and many sources indicate that the Provisional Government held a commemorative ceremony on that day, so it was repeatedly proposed that the anniversary should be revised. The Korean Kuomintang's official newspaper, Han Min, recorded that "April 11 was the anniversary of the promulgation of the provisional charter and the establishment of the provisional government of the Republic of Korea," and in 1920, independence activist Kim Byung-jo's "A Brief History of the Independence Movement" and the Shanghai issue of Shiji Xinbao also mentioned April 11 as the day of the establishment of the provisional government.
