Silicon Technologies, IAR and MachineWare have joined forces to accelerate ASIL-compliant RISC-V automotive chip innovation

The effort between Silreal, IAR, and MachineWare enabled a seamless transition between virtual and physical SoCs, facilitating early software development and error detection. This simplified approach accelerates time-to-market, especially in automotive underlying software solution development and HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) test scenarios.

Headquartered in China, a leading RISC-V CPU IP and solution provider, ChipLab has developed a complete RISC-V CPU IP portfolio from scratch. Today, CoreRay's CPU IP has been deployed by more than 200 customers in markets such as artificial intelligence, automotive, networking, storage, and industrial. Covering ASIL-B to ASIL-D certified RISC-V CPU, all of our NA (Automotive Grade) products, we offer comprehensive functional safety packages and services to accelerate the certification process for chip design companies. Up to now, many automotive chip customers have adopted the NA series of CPU IP in applications such as lidar, engine electronic control unit, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), gateways, and microcontroller units (MCUs).

IAR is the world's leading provider of software solutions for embedded system development, and its flagship product, IAR Embedded Workbench, is widely regarded as the industry's gold standard compiler and debugger toolchain, which can improve software code reuse and help developers improve productivity, and is loved by millions of developers around the world. At the same time, for the development of applications with high safety requirements, IAR Embedded Workbench for RISC-V provides a functional safety version, which complies with 10 functional safety standards such as automotive ISO 26262 and industrial IEC 61508, providing a reliable solution for the development of safety-critical applications and accelerating the time to market.

MachineWare specializes in ultra-fast virtual prototyping and virtual platforms for system simulation of high-performance SoC/MCU chips for software analysis, verification, development, and architecture exploration. The SIM-V platform provides a high-speed RISC-V simulator that can be seamlessly integrated into a full system simulation or virtual platform (VP) for full simulation of the entire SoC or ECU. On top of that, VP has the advantage of being in-depth and non-intrusive and flexible in both on-premises and cloud-based deployments.

Silicon Technologies, IAR and MachineWare have joined forces to accelerate ASIL-compliant RISC-V automotive chip innovation

Anders Holmberg, CTO of IAR, sees the collaboration between the three companies as important in the automotive industry: "This collaboration brings together our strengths to advance the use of RISC-V SoCs in the automotive industry. Our certification solutions streamline supply chain processes and support functional safety and security compliance. This opens up new opportunities for innovation and differentiation in the market. ”

Dr. Jianying Peng, CEO of Silicon Labs, said, "The ISO 26262 certified RISC-V CPU IP provides solid and unprecedented flexibility and efficiency to meet the functional safety requirements from ASIL-B to ASIL-D in automotive chip development. "Together, we will support our customers in the automotive industry and accelerate their development efforts to ensure the successful protection of functional safety and cybersecurity." ”

Lukas Jünger, co-founder of MachineWare, said, "Our ultra-fast RISC-V simulator, SIM-V, gives engineers the ability to simulate high-performance MCU/SoC systems before actual prototypes appear. This accelerates the development process and reduces cost increases caused by defects and vulnerabilities. "We are proud to partner with IAR and SocleiTech to provide customers with the tools they need to develop SoCs in the automotive industry." ”
