In the middle of winter, everything is sluggish, but in the vegetable greenhouse of Shuangzhu Village, Gaoguan Town, Chengkou County, Chongqing City, it is warm as spring and full of greenery. I saw that the workers were busy mulching strawberries in preparation for the Spring Festival fruit market, and the whole base was a lively and busy scene. "This breed is called Hongyan. Mulching film can not only keep heat and fertilizer, prevent the enrichment of surface salt, but also accelerate the vegetative growth of strawberries and improve the yield and quality. At present, strawberries have been transplanted for more than a month, and they will usher in flowering and fruiting during the Spring Festival. Our strawberries are all self-raised, the retail price is 100 yuan per kilogram, and the yield per mu is stable at 1500 to 2000 kilograms. Liu Diduan, the person in charge of the base, told reporters.

It is understood that in 2011, Liu Diduan returned to his hometown to start a business, adopted a green ecological planting model in Shuangzhu Village and Puchi Village, Gaoguan Town, Chengkou County, developed alpine facilities and fruits and vegetables according to local conditions, and founded Chengkou County Lvjiayuan Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. For more than 10 years, he has made unremitting efforts to adopt the model of "company + base + farmer", and has successfully developed more than 300 acres of green facility vegetables, with more than 20 varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, etc., with an annual output of more than 1 million kilograms of various fresh green vegetables and fruits, and a total output value of more than 2 million yuan. The company has been rated as "Chongqing's Most Beautiful Green Food Enterprise" and "Leading Enterprise in Vegetable Planting Industry", etc., and Liu Diduan has become a well-known "Leader of Getting Rich" within a radius of ten miles, and won the title of "Leader of Poverty Alleviation and Prosperity" in 2020.

"I was born in an authentic peasant family in Miaoba Township. There are nine brothers and sisters in the family, and I am the eighth, because I am poor, I dropped out of school before I finished junior high school. Later, it was also a coincidence that he went to Xinjiang to help his relatives manage the vegetables in the facility, and then he has been growing vegetables in Xinjiang until his children are studying and returning to his hometown to start a business. Liu Diduan told reporters that due to his poor family, his parents could not provide for him to continue his education, and after dropping out of school in the first year of junior high school, he followed his parents to do odd jobs in the town, but his income was meager and he often could not find a way to live. In 1992, a relative who was growing vegetables in Xinjiang learned of his situation and suggested that he go to Xinjiang to help manage vegetables. After that, Liu Diduan accepted the proposal of his relatives and happily went to Xinjiang to work. Liu Diduan started as a miscellaneous worker in the vegetable base, and his income in the first month was only 240 yuan. Slowly, his relatives saw that he was down-to-earth and hard-working, and they taught him the skills of growing vegetables. From how to select seedlings, temperature and humidity adjustment in the greenhouse, fertilization, pest control, etc., he has repeatedly studied every technology. Hard work pays off, with a diligent and studious attitude, Liu Diduan soon mastered the facility vegetable planting technology, the tomatoes and cucumbers under his management, the average yield per mu reached four or five thousand catties, and the salary also rose to 400 yuan a month.

After helping his relatives manage vegetables for 4 years, Liu Diduan, who has a flexible mind, decided to come out and work alone. "At the beginning, I contracted 5 acres of land to build greenhouses, planting peppers, cabbage, tomatoes, and then made money to gradually expand the greenhouse every year, and in 2000, the scale reached 15 acres, and the net profit could have 50,000 or 60,000 yuan a year, and the income at that time was considerable. Liu Diduan introduced. In 2005, Liu Diduan's children reached the age of studying, and in order to facilitate the children's study, he and his wife decided to return to their hometown Chengkou to continue planting facility vegetables.

Chengkou County is located in the hinterland of Daba Mountain, with obvious subtropical mountain climate, superior natural environment and high soil organic matter content, which is very suitable for the development of alpine vegetables. However, due to the remote terrain and backward economy, the local facility vegetable industry has not formed a scale for many years, and only a small number of villagers have scattered planting, resulting in low yield and efficiency.

In 2006, Liu Diduan transferred 10 acres of land at a price of 300 yuan/mu in Xingwang Village, Miaoba Town, and began to repair the land, build greenhouses, and make preliminary preparations. Subsequently, he introduced peppers, cucumbers, loofahs, strawberries, watermelons and other fruit and vegetable varieties for planting. Thanks to the superior natural conditions and excellent technology, the output and efficiency in the first two years were generally stable, and the annual profit was about 80,000 yuan. In 2009, just when Liu Diduan decided to continue to expand the scale, he was surprised to learn that the government was going to build an industrial park in the contracted area, and the transferred land was repossessed. For the next two years, he chose to spend time at home, taking care of his family and planning for the future. In 2011, Liu Diduan decided to regain his strength and start again, after investigation, he transferred 50 acres of land at a price of 800 yuan/mu in Puchi Village, Gaoguan Town, and spent nearly a year preparing to build a greenhouse. At the beginning of 2012, he registered and established Chengkou County Lujiayuan Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., and introduced cucumbers, peppers, beans, tomatoes and other vegetable seedlings from Chongqing 3000 Seed Industry Company, officially starting the second business.

In order to keep up with the pace of modern agricultural development and grasp the latest developments in the vegetable market, Liu Diduan has participated in high-quality farmer training under the recommendation of the Chengkou County Agriculture and Rural Committee for many times, and went to Shandong Shouguang Facility Vegetable Base to observe and learn. After returning from his studies, he decided to grow vegetables in accordance with the national green standards and take the road of green branding. "In the application of fertilizer, reduce the use of chemical fertilizers, a large number of organic fertilizers, such as sheep manure, cow manure after the fermentation of farm fertilizer, effectively improve soil fertility, improve soil structure, greatly improve the yield and quality of vegetables; At the scene, Liu Diduan read his "green planting scripture" to reporters.

Sitting on the superior natural ecological environment and green planting mode, the alpine fruits and vegetables grown by Liu Diduan not only have good taste and good quality, but also because of the high altitude of the production base, the fruits and vegetables are later ripened in the Pingba area at lower altitudes, so they can achieve staggered peak listing, so they have become the "fragrant bait" in the market, and are in short supply in the county. "The yield of cucumbers per mu is stable at 2,500 kilograms, and the yield of peppers and tomatoes is stable at 3,000 kilograms. We opened a fresh food stall in the county seat, which was regularly transported from the base every day, and was mainly sold to schools and some enterprise canteens in Chengkou. Liu Diduan said with a smile. The road of alpine facilities and vegetables is getting smoother and smoother, which makes Liu Diduan's confidence greatly increased. He decided to continue to expand the area, and in 2013, during an investigation and research, Liu Diduan found that the terrain of Shuangzhu Village was relatively flat, and concentrated into patches, easy to manage, and was a "feng shui treasure land" for the development of alpine vegetables. In this way, he transferred 60 acres of land in Shuangzhu Village at a price of 800 yuan/mu and started the construction of the second base.

In 2017, the cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes and beans produced by the company successfully passed the national green food certification. With the blessing of this "trump card", Liu Diduan has more confidence in developing alpine facility vegetables. In 2018, he successively expanded the scale of planting, and actively explored the rural picking mode, and launched the "winter strawberry, summer watermelon" picking experience service to meet the diverse needs of customers.

"When one person is rich, he is not rich, and everyone is rich when they are prosperous. Although he relied on planting facilities and vegetables to make a fortune, Liu Diduan was always thinking about how to drive the villagers and let them increase their income and get rich. To this end, he has been promoting facility vegetables and open-air vegetable planting technology in Puchi Village, Fuxing Village, Gaoguan Town, Hongjun Village, Gaoyan Town, and Jinlong Village, Beiping Township, and signed order agreements with farmers to provide prenatal technical training, guidance on pest control during production, and post-production order purchase of the whole industry chain services. At present, driven by his development, more than 100 farmers have planted vegetables, with a planting area of 1,200 acres, and an average annual income increase of 20,000 yuan per household.

Wang Shishen, who lives in Beiping Township, is one of the villagers who have benefited. He told reporters that in 2016, he planted 10 acres of vegetables, but he had no experience, resulting in a loss in the first year. Later, with the help of Liu Diduan, the net income reached 11,000 yuan in 2018. Now through cooperation with Liu Diduan, there is an annual income of 12,000 yuan. "Liu is always a real person, he has supported me a lot, providing us with seedlings and technology free of charge, and also undertaking sales, and everyone is assured to rent the land to him and cooperate with him to grow vegetables. Wang Shishen said excitedly.

During the interview, the reporter learned that in order to solve the employment of the surplus labor force in the surrounding area, Liu Diduan also actively recruited the surrounding villagers to work in the base, so that they could achieve employment and increase income at their doorstep. He told reporters that whether it is land circulation or work, the base will give priority to the people in difficulty, the company employs 5 people all year round, and the annual labor expenditure reaches 180,000 yuan. "I have been working in the vegetable base for almost 10 years, I have work all year round, with a monthly income of 4,000 yuan, and I am grateful to Mr. Liu for providing me with this opportunity. Speaking of being able to work at home to increase income, Hu Xingying, a villager in Shuangzhu Village, Gaoguan Town, was very happy.

Now, Liu Diduan has relied on alpine vegetables to make a way to get rich, puffed up the villagers' money bags, and made the local villagers feel more and more happy. When it comes to future planning, he said that the next step is to rely on the superior and unique ecological environment conditions of Chengkou County, take the development road of "ecological characteristics, high-quality high-end, and integration of three industries", and build a standardized intelligent facility vegetable production base and a place for agricultural leisure tourism.
