On December 20, the "2023 Guangdong Province Compulsory Education New Curriculum Reform Achievement Promotion and Guangzhou Tianhe District Curriculum Teaching Deepening Action Project Achievements National Exhibition Activity" was held in Tianhe District, Guangzhou. To deepen the implementation of the national curriculum reform, Tianhe District continues to take action. At the event, Tianhe District Education Bureau, Tianhe District Curriculum Reform "Seed School" Huayang Primary School, and Tianhe Foreign Chinese School respectively made reports on deepening curriculum and teaching reform. The practical experience and results of the basic education curriculum teaching quality improvement project were shared at the regional level and school level.

"The new round of national curriculum reform has brought endless vitality to the basic education sector, clearly pointed to the vision of quality education, and shown immeasurable significance. Guangzhou Tianhe knows that it is necessary to speed up the pace and explore the reform of the way of educating people, so that the fundamental task of establishing morality and cultivating people can be truly implemented. The process of diving into the process of curriculum reform is not an easy one. In the teaching practice, three outstanding problems were found in Tianhe District: the correct understanding of the curriculum in schools needs to be improved, the scientific concept and method of education of teachers need to be strengthened, and the teaching evaluation to promote students' growth needs to be improved.

Adhering to the spirit of daring to be the first, Tianhe District took the initiative to break through the educational problems. Gong Wei introduced that in the spring of 2021, after more than half a year of docking, the cooperation project between Tianhe District and the Curriculum Institute of East China Normal University, the Tianhe District Basic Education Curriculum Teaching Quality Improvement Project was officially launched, and it is committed to promoting the school-based national curriculum.

From "teaching-oriented" to "learning-oriented", from "knowledge-oriented" to "quality-oriented", Tianhe District has implemented curriculum reform actions at three levels: regional administrative management, research and training management, and school practice.

At the administrative level, Tianhe District has promoted the reform of curriculum and teaching with the "soft supervision" of administrative power. Tianhe District has formulated a project plan for improving the basic education curriculum and education quality, and has set up a special leading group, which is guided by a first-class team of experts in the country. At the same time, Tianhe District selected seed schools to pilot first. On the basis of extensive mobilization in the early stage and voluntary schools, 17 schools with strong intentions were selected as "seed schools", covering 5 major areas of Tianhe Education, covering 12 primary schools, 3 junior high schools, and 2 complete middle schools.

"Tianhe District implements the '1+N' model, pilots are carried out according to selected seed schools, and at the same time the idea of radiating non-seed schools is promoted. Each seed school connects with 2~3 non-seed schools to form a '1+N' Xi community, so as to cover almost all schools in the district and achieve resource sharing. Gong Wei said.

At the level of regional teaching management, Tianhe District has promoted teaching reform through training and research competitions to update concepts. The curriculum of East China Normal University has carefully designed a systematic and professional training program for the project with a three-year cycle, which has greatly ignited the enthusiasm of Tianhe educators for curriculum reform. Tianhe District has arranged more than 10 batches of teachers to Shanghai for offline training, and more than 600 teachers have participated in the training. Tianhe District runs through the three-level teaching and research of "regional teaching and research, regional teaching and research, and school-based teaching and research", with the seed schools in each area as the center, and the other non-seed schools are driven by points to form a Xi community.

In addition, from 2021 to 2023, 394 provincial, municipal, and district projects on deepening curriculum reform and 32 special projects on "academic cases" will be approved in Tianhe District, including 7 municipal education science planning projects, 3 municipal education and research institute projects, and 22 district-level education planning projects.

At the level of school practice exploration, one school, one case, three professional scaffolds drive the real implementation of curriculum reform. Through the formulation of the "School Curriculum Implementation Plan" at the school level, the 17 seed schools clarified the school's educational goals and school philosophy, formed a school education philosophy, deeply understood the importance of the national curriculum, and formulated the school curriculum implementation plan "according to school conditions". In addition, the school's teaching and research group prepares the "Semester Curriculum Outline" at the level, and the school lesson preparation team or teachers prepare the "Unit Academic Case", which generally forms three professional scaffolds to drive the real implementation of curriculum reform.

"Through the three-year curriculum reform, the teaching concept of teachers in Tianhe District has become more scientific, the process of students' learning and Xi has become more efficient, the school's path has become clearer, and the education evaluation system has been more sound. "Curriculum reform is not a short-lived phased task, but a normalized and continuous action. The three-year work of improving the quality of curriculum reform is about to be successfully completed, but Tianhe District will continue to make steady progress in deepening the curriculum reform. Gong Wei said that in the future, Tianhe District will consolidate the achievements of the first batch of seed schools, mobilize and select a new batch of seed schools, develop a set of regional curriculum reform training courses, and build a backbone team of curriculum reform practice to help go deeper and more practical.

Huayang Primary School takes "making the school a place that warms childhood, illuminates dreams, and grows towards the sun" as the school-running vision, and takes the cultivation of "Sunshine Seven Products" sun baby as the educational goal, and takes this as the guide, and consistently designs the curriculum content, implementation, evaluation and guarantee to support the achievement of the goal to the greatest extent.

According to Chen Lixia, Huayang Primary School's "Colorful Self-Reliance Course" won the second prize of the 2018 National Teaching Achievement Award of Basic Education...... These are all courses that are very popular with the "sun baby".

However, the school teachers are well aware that the national curriculum is the main front of the school's education, and the school-based curriculum of Huayang Primary School is too complex. Therefore, the school combined the goal of educating people, slimmed it down into three course groups of "Children's Dream, Children's Creation, and Zhiyuan", and integrated it with courses such as labor, comprehensive practice, science, and artificial intelligence, and arranged them into the curriculum.

Chen Lixia told the guests and teachers present that the combination of "semester curriculum outline, unit academic case, and learning-centered lesson case research" is the "secret weapon" of Huayang Primary School to carry out curriculum reform.

In fact, it is not easy for teachers to make a consistent overall plan for the course objectives, content, implementation, and evaluation in a language that children can understand. To this end, in the first week of school, Huayang Primary School gave students a special "semester syllabus" sharing class for each subject, "After practice, I found that the children were very interested and were still talking about how to design their own large-unit works after class." Chen Lixia said.

The unit academic case provides an operational path for strengthening the practice of the discipline. Through common preparation, normal use, and project guidance, curriculum standards, teaching materials, and learning questionnaires have become the three major items that teachers cannot do without, and teachers can examine units and teaching materials from a higher dimension.

In addition, after the introduction of the "Video Club" to Huayang Primary School, the school has created a Xi situation of a professional community, and teachers can pay more attention to the real learning Xi of students in the details that are focused and amplified by slicing, playback, etc.

The real data shows that the curriculum reform has important practical significance. Chen Lixia gave a set of data - in the "Huayang Primary School Three-year Curriculum Reform Action Survey" with 353 participants, it was found that 93.77% of teachers believed that classroom observation promoted the professional growth of the team, 94% of teachers could use academic records in the classroom, and 44% of teachers often used "unit tasks" to control the learning Xi of the entire unit.

In the sharing, Hu Dong, principal of Guangzhou Tianhe Foreign Chinese School, introduced that the school has declared to become a provincial demonstration school of new curriculum and new teaching materials for ordinary high schools in Guangdong Province, and a pilot school for the experimental project of in-depth teaching classroom reform in primary and secondary schools in Guangzhou.

In classroom teaching, "teaching by learning and evaluation by learning" has become the consensus of teachers outside the world, and has formed a practical transformation from concept to action - from teaching-centered to learning-centered, from knowledge-focused to literacy-oriented, from passive acceptance to active thinking. Hu Dong said, experts have opened a window for Tianwai's curriculum reform, allowing teachers outside Tianwai to think about the school's teaching work from the perspective of expert research.

Curriculum reform encompasses many aspects of improvement and change. Through reading, learning, Xi, seminars and exchanges, Tianwai first allows teachers to grow professionally. Hu Dong said that in order to improve the overall quality of the school, Tianwai also put forward the goal of establishing an "academic middle school".
