Zhang Jizhi (1186-1263), calligrapher of the Southern Song Dynasty. The character Wenfu (文夫), courtesy name Liliao ( 樗liao ) , was a native of Liyang (present-day Hexian County, Anhui). Born in a family of famous eunuchs, he is the son of Zhang Xiaobo, the governor of the government, the nephew of the patriotic poet Zhang Xiaoxiang, and the eighth grandson of the famous poet Zhang Zhi of the Middle And Tang Dynasties.
Zhang Jizhi's calligraphy was deeply influenced by the Tang Dynasty, and the beginners Ouyang Qing, Chu Suiliang and Yan Zhenqing, as well as Su Shi, Huang Tingjian, and Mi Fu in the Northern Song Dynasty, were also the objects of his dharma. Later references to the Han Li and Jin and Tang classics, coupled with the influence of Zen philosophical thought, formed a unique style of calligraphy art.
