Zhang Jizhi's calligraphy was deeply influenced by the Tang Dynasty, and the beginners Ouyang Qing, Chu Suiliang and Yan Zhenqing, as well as Su Shi, Huang Tingjian, and Mi Fu in the Northern Song Dynasty, were also the objects of his dharma. Zhang Jizhi was the leading figure in the Southern Song Dynasty's calligraphy circle, the History of the Development of Chinese Calligraphy, the Song Six, including Zhang Jizhi, and the other five were the Northern Song Dynasty Four Families and Zhao Tuo. Zhang Jizhi was an innovator who turned the tide in the late Southern Song Dynasty, revitalized the art of calligraphy, and spent his life changing the declining style of calligraphy, and he was famous for a while, and had the reputation of "Song Shudian Army". The "History of Song" said that it "smelled the world with noh books" and "the big characters were elegant and vigorous, and the fine books were extraordinary".

The next stroke is simple and condensed, the pen is solid and strong, the dot painting gu pansheng, the knot is handsome and the bone is strong, so that the character knot is vivid and bright, refreshing and not conventional. His book "Big Character Du Fu Poetry Volume" was rated by predecessors as "there is a long wind and breaking waves". Although the Jurchens were far in the north and were in a hostile position with the Southern Song Dynasty regime, they did not hesitate to buy Zhang Jizhi's Hanmo works with heavy money.
