Post-Three Kingdoms era: the weak counterattack, the norm of defeating the strong with the weak

The pattern of the post-Three Kingdoms era was composed of three states: Eastern Wei, Western Wei and Xiao Liang. Among them, Western Wei and Northern Zhou gradually gained advantages in terms of geographical location, economic development, and statecraft, destroying Eastern Wei (Northern Qi) and laying the foundation for the great unification of the Sui Dynasty. Western Wei and Northern Zhou implemented effective measures such as the average field system, the prefectural military system, and the fight against corruption, which played an important role in promoting agricultural development, strengthening the state, and consolidating rule. In contrast, political corruption and land annexation in the Eastern Wei (Northern Qi) and Xiao Liang dynasties led to massive population loss and social unrest, which was one of the important reasons for their gradual decline and demise.
