Stop 306: Dukang (Gang) Temple (Village)

Text and picture ‖ Liang Yaoguo

Listening to Mr. Guo Songzhao from his hometown of Liangbei, there is a Dugang Temple village in their town, and there is a Dukang Temple in the village, which has a very long history, and it is very worth reading and writing, and invited me to go with me at the right time. Because this thing and that thing dragged on, it never came to pass. A month later, I went on my own.

I entered the temple through the main gate. When I entered the gate, I saw at a glance that under the east gable of the old building with stone walls and glazed tiles on the west side, there were two old stone tablets.

The north side of the stele is entitled "Rebuild the Jade Emperor Hall Inscription", because the inscription is weathered severely, only recognize "the Jade Emperor Hall is new, the work is completed, I think that the stone is immortal cloud ear" and so on, the time of the inscription is the first year of Kangxi (1662) midsummer, the person who strangles the stele is the head of the Chaoshan society. (If you want to appreciate other masterpieces written by Mr. Liang Yaoguo, please click on the following links: 1. The south side of the stele is entitled "Rebuild the Inspiration Temple Garan Hall Inscription", this stele is well preserved, and the inscription is clear and readable:

The southeast of the county seat, go to the city for more than ten miles, cover the inspiration temple, and its place name is called Dugang. Examined from the thirteenth year of the Western Wei Dynasty (547 years) age Ding Mao, Jingzhao (now Xi'an) people have the surname Du, the official sent Zitu, repair the temple hall, carved stone, the book years, the book country number, the book surname, the name of the sect and the party, no less than a few people, all show daggers in the world, so the text is recorded in the stone, so that the later generations of gentlemen and good people look up, and the good will of the good. For thousands of years, during which the rise and fall do not know how many, since the war and fire have been chaotic, the temple has been half destroyed, such as the Garan Palace, and it has been destroyed by the wind and rain, and it is crumbling. There are good people Xu Sanguang and so on, looking up to the past, sad for it, devout, recruiting good people, donating goldwork, restoring its old truth, and then coming to an end. The remaining causes are left behind, and the origin of the temple, or that is, it begins with Du, not from Du, when there is a preface, the remaining hatred is not exhausted.

It is not difficult to see from the inscription that during the Western Wei Dynasty, Du Kang Temple was also called Inspiration Temple, which was founded by Xi'an people surnamed Du when they came here to be officials. It's a pity that the place where the payment was made out of a nest due to the stone avalanche, just missing three words, making the specific stone carving time unknown. As we all know, of the dynasties with the word "Wei", the Western Wei Dynasty was the last. In this way, if the Jialan Hall is also rebuilt by the Western Wei Dynasty, then the text of "thousands of years, during which the rise and fall do not know how many, since the war and fire, the temple is half destroyed, such as the Jialan Palace, and it is destroyed by the wind and rain, and it is crumbling", which seems to be contrary to it.

Dukang Temple has several old buildings in the Ming and Qing dynasties, such as the Tianwang Palace, the Guanyin Palace, the Dizang Palace, and the Daxiong Treasure Palace. (First photo: Daxiong Treasure Hall)

During the copying, soothing Sanskrit music resounded in my ears. After finishing copying, I saw a monk sitting in front of the Daxiong Treasure Hall, closing his eyes slightly, and listening quietly. I tiptoed up to me, mustered up my courage, and whispered, "Hello master, can you tell me about the Dukang Temple you know?"

The master looked at me and said humbly that he had just come to live in the temple and knew nothing about the past, so he asked me to go to the village to find an elderly person and ask again.

Obviously, this is a polite refusal. As for me, I also left the monastery with interest.

After being introduced by an enthusiastic villager, I was fortunate to meet the erudite and talkative old man Yang Zongren. The old man is in his 80s and served as the principal of Dugangsi Primary School before his retirement.

According to the old man, Dugang Temple was originally called Dukang Temple, and the name of the village was born because of the temple. Why did it change to Dugang Temple, it was the time of the Kuomintang, and we came out with a person who could serve as a deacon, saying that the post paid less grain. There was originally a road post on the north side, and the brick bridge (village) on the side of the post could not be seen on the side of the guard. Dukang Temple changed a word, changed to a post, a word difference, to the county said, you can pay less grain, it is a good thing for the people, this is changed to Dugang Temple, has been used until now.

In the past few years, Du Kang Temple declared the cultural relics protection unit to the Xuchang Municipal Government, (20) 12 years of the monument.

Legend has it that the story of Du Kang selling drunk Liu Ling happened to us. Liu Ling is the boss of alcohol and is nicknamed the wine fairy. One day, he came here and saw Du Kang's wine sign that said: Three glasses are not drunk and no money. Liu Ling is not convinced, I want to drink three cups to try. He drank two glasses, and Du Kang said you can't drink anymore, you have to get drunk if you drink again. Liu Ling said that it would not be in the way for me to drink five cups.

Who knew that after drinking three cups and getting dizzy, he was afraid of being embarrassed, so he quickly staggered back, and he couldn't wake up when he went back. After sleeping for three days, his daughter-in-law thought that he was dead, and was not reconciled, thinking that he would die for no reason, so she lay him on a wooden plank, and lived with bricks outside, and hid him in the house.

After stopping for three years, Du Kang went to his house and asked Liu Ling if she was at home. Liu Ling's daughter-in-law said that she was looking for him to get something. Du Kang said I want money for wine. His daughter-in-law said, "All my men have drunk to death, and you still need money for wine." I can't leave you today, but I can find my next home. Du Kang said, he is drunk, you tell me to see. And his daughter-in-law said, He was mound in the house. Du Kang said, I woke people up, you have to give me money for wine.

Since this was said, Liu Ling's daughter-in-law had no choice but to open the tomb. When I opened it, I saw Liu Ling's face flushed, as if she had slept asleep. Du Kang said, Liu Ling, you are very sleepy. Liu Ling yawned and said that this wine is really strong! Du Kang said, do you know how long you have been asleep. Liu Ling said, I slept for many days. Du Kang said that he slept for three years. Liu Ling was very surprised, ah, how strong is your wine.

When Liu Ling's daughter-in-law saw this, she was very grateful and wanted to entertain Du Kang. Du Kang got the money for the wine and left. Since then, this story has slowly spread throughout Henan and the whole country.

To the east of Yanling, when it comes to Dukang Temple, people who are 20 years older than me know it. In the past, we drove an ox cart to sell coal over there, and when we asked, where are you? Answer, Dugang Temple. I asked again, where is the Dugang Temple? and replied, Xiaoyu Prefecture. People say, you are not Dugang Temple, you are Dukang Temple. People say, I've been there, do you know the three-legged platform in front of the main hall? Answer, I don't know. People say, don't even know this, you definitely don't belong to Dukang Temple.

In fact, outsiders arrive at a new place sooner or later, and they look very carefully, while the locals turn a blind eye and don't pay attention.

There are many legends of Dukang Temple built in the Western Wei Dynasty: drinking and sleeping for three years, the road ditch is mysterious

After the reform and opening up, the Ruzhou Finance Bureau brought the people of the Ruzhou Distillery to Dukang Temple. When I inquired, I said that in the northwest corner of the main hall, there was a stone covering the mouth of the well of Du Kangjing. It is said that the water from that well is used to make sake is more abundant and more delicious. However, after searching and searching, Du Kangjing was not found, and finally it was lost.

Du Kangjing could not be found, there was no way, people according to legend, dug a well in the northwest corner of the outside of the main hall, turned into the hall, and took the water from the well to make wine. Yuzhou Distillery often drove to pull water, and it didn't make a name for itself. Later, the commune and the brigade jointly made Du Kang wine, but no famous master was invited, although it was pure grain wine, but it was sold cheaply and not cost-effective, and no one bought it when it was expensive, so it had to be closed.

On the Guangxu stele, Du Kang Temple was mentioned, and now, there is no surname Du in the village. After that, the Sun family came early and named Sun Zhuang. The Yang family came late, but the population was large, and they wanted to change their name to Yangzhuang, but they couldn't get along, so they simply restored Dugang Temple.

Before the liberation, Wang Qizi first set up a private school in Dukang Temple, saying that he taught how good he was, to put it bluntly, he was old and strict, beating students very well, sometimes beating other people's children into the table, and finally that child became the commander of the Kuomintang, and he was also famous.

When the Kuomintang ran a school, there were few teachers and few students, and there were a total of 120 students in the first and second grades, so they adopted a duplex class, that is, several grades in a classroom at the same time, and the teacher taught this class and that class.

Sometimes the teacher is too busy, so the older seniors teach the younger ones, which is called passing on the help, which is no way. The youngest teaches the "Three Character Classics", and the highest teaches the "Five Classics" and "Four Books".

After the liberation, the Dugang Temple School was changed to Dugang Temple Primary School, which mainly enrolled students from the three villages of Dugang Temple, Nanhaizhuang and Sihou Liu. In (19) 68, he began to run a junior high school, and in 19) 79, he also ran a high school during this period. In (19) 80 years, in order to improve the quality of junior high school teaching, Dugang Temple cut down the middle school and merged it to the brick bridge in the west, and established a new brick bridge joint middle school.

The north and south ditch on the west side of the temple, formerly called the temple road ditch, also has a story.

Ma Wensheng Ma Tianguan of the Ming Dynasty is from our Yuzhou, and the officials must be from the people. When he was the prime minister, there were a lot of Jinshi from Yuzhou, and many officials were appointed at the same time. There is a royal official in Shaanxi, I don't know what the specific name is, he gave the emperor a copy and accused Ma Wensheng of cheating. The emperor sent someone down for a private visit to check if there was such a thing. Ma Wen rose to the bottom, and hurriedly asked the people of Yuzhou to read, and there were books hanging on the spinning wife spinning flower wheel, books hanging on the dung fork of the old man picking up dung, and even books hanging on the plough crutches of the ploughing land.

The private visit returned to the capital and reported what he had seen and heard to the emperor. When the emperor heard this, he said that people attach great importance to culture, not to mention this, and it is not too much to say more.

The king's officials couldn't do it, and they praised Ma Wensheng to the emperor, saying that there was a golden ditch and a silver ditch in the west of Yuzhou, and the soil there would not be bad for 10,000 years. Ma Wensheng heard it on the side, saying that you dug the gold ditch and the silver ditch, but you can't dig Dugang. The emperor asked why, and Ma Wensheng said that the soil on Dugang was better than that in the gold and silver ditches. The emperor then sent someone to dig up the soil on the west side of the temple.

The strange thing is that it was dug during the day, and at night it was restored again, and just like that, it was dug and flattened, and it was leveled and dug again. Later, it was impossible, so Lian Ming dug all night and finally dug this big ditch.

The soil was transported to the capital, and Ma Wensheng said according to the eight-character recital of the birthday of the royal official, the mud that this person jumped out of was exceptionally good, and the emperor really picked the royal official. Ma Wensheng sent someone to put some tribulus terrestris in the mud, and the medicine was used on it. The king's official was really injured when he was in the mud, and he couldn't wash it, and finally died of poisoning.

When I was a child, the temple road ditch was more than a zhang deep, and the people on Fan Po's side walked into this ditch when they entered the city. Now that the road has been built in all directions, the ditch has been abandoned, but its story will live on forever.
