Israel admitted on Saturday that a heavy transport helicopter carrying Israeli soldiers was destroyed by the Hamas Qassam Brigade on the first day of Hamas's Operation Al-Aqsa Floods, Sky News reported on October 15.
The helicopter was reportedly transporting paratroopers to the settlement of Bari near Gaza when it was attacked by anti-tank missiles by Palestinian Hamas fighters en route.
According to a Al Jazeera reporter, the equipment was an Yasur-type heavy transport helicopter with 50 Israeli soldiers on board, and after being hit and crashed, flames engulfed the soldiers on the plane.
Although the Israeli Ministry of Defense vigorously denied it afterwards, after several media reports, Israel had to publicly admit this fact.
Interestingly, according to a Hamas spokesperson, Hamas forces have managed to shoot down at least four Israeli air force helicopters. For now, however, the Israeli military admits to losing only one.
