According to Yonhap News Agency a few days ago, the US government recently informed the South Korean side through the economic security dialogue channel of the export control department and the National Security Council that it decided to designate Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix semiconductor factories in China as "verified end users". Inclusion on the list would not require additional licensing, amounting to an indefinite suspension of U.S. export controls.

In October last year, the United States issued regulations prohibiting US companies from exporting some cutting-edge semiconductor production equipment to Chinese semiconductor manufacturers, which brought uncertainty to foreign manufacturers in China. Since then, against the objections of the two South Korean companies, the U.S. government has granted a one-year exemption from the import of equipment related to its factories in China, which is valid until October 11, 2023.

In this regard, Samsung Electronics issued a statement saying that "through close coordination with relevant governments, the uncertainty related to its semiconductor production and operation in China has been greatly eliminated"; Regarding the US government's decision to exempt export control regulations, SK Hynix also said that "this decision will contribute to the stability of the global semiconductor supply chain."
