Dog influenza: A variety of subtypes of influenza viruses have been identified that can infect dogs, including H, III, H, V and H9 subtypes. Among them, H 3, N 8 and H 3 and N II subtypes influenza viruses can be circulating in dog groups and mainly cause respiratory symptoms. The virus is mainly transmitted through the respiratory tract and is often secondary to bacterial infection.
Given the persistence of H308 subtype influenza virus infection in dogs and its circulation among dog populations, the clinical features of dogs are very similar to kennel cough caused by parainfluenza virus infection in dogs.
Dogs develop clinical symptoms, including depression, loss of appetite, and runny nose, two to three days after infection. As the course of the disease progresses, the nasal discharge gradually changes from clear to mucusy, and most infected dogs will have an elevated body temperature, but a low-grade fever. Persistent cough is the most important feature of the disease, dry cough in sick dogs can last for several weeks, most sick dogs show pneumonia or bronchopneumonia with abnormal lung sounds, and some infected dogs show pleurisy and vasculitis.
It is worth noting that about a quarter of dogs infected with the virus do not show clinical symptoms, but these dogs can detoxify the outside world, so the dog population with sporadic cases needs to be monitored frequently. H3N8 subtype influenza virus infection can spread rapidly in dog populations.
Dog coronavirus: The disease is highly contagious and has a high fatality rate in puppies. The affected dog has symptoms of gastroenteritis of different severity, the course of the disease varies, and the performance is good and bad, mild and severe, repeated attacks, sudden appetite, waste, vomiting, diarrhea and rapid dehydration, vomit is mucus mixed with bubbles, yellow, gray-white, and even yellow-green loose stools, sometimes sprayed and then turned into coffee or jam.
