As a regimental cadre, what can I do for the youth of the regiment in the factory? This is the question that 22-year-old Zhang Chunyan pondered. It was 1983, at the Hangzhou Iron and Steel Factory, as an instrument worker, she was checking the monitoring system in the rumble of the machine, when she was suddenly called by the factory leader to talk. This conversation changed the trajectory of her life ever since.

Promoted from instrument worker to deputy secretary of the Youth League Committee of the branch, Zhang Chunyan was a bit "retreating" at first: "I am a skilled worker, I have never done the work of the regiment, what should I do if I can't do it well?" At that time, she liked instrument work, and in that era, eating with technology made her feel down-to-earth and honorable.

"Do you think that counts as catching ducks on the shelves?" Zhang Chunyan smiled and recalled this past. She always smiled like this and mingled with her peers, and it was precisely this advantage that made the leaders feel that she was suitable for being a regiment cadre. In order to dispel Zhang Chunyan's concerns, the leader promised to let her keep the toolbox and promised to return to the instrument group in the future.

The trust of the organization allowed Zhang Chunyan to have no worries and began to do the work of the Communist Youth League. However, unlike the instrument workers, the Communist Youth League is a human work, and it is impossible to rely on boring practice technology to fight all over the world. The liveliness of the youth and the diversity of the league work made Zhang Chunyan a little confused at first. Since then, she has begun to write notes on the Communist Youth League, including portraits of youth members, expectations and demands of young people for the work of the League, inspiration and reflection in the work, and so on.

The research and thinking and accumulation in the notebook made her find a direction for her work. Proceeding from the actual needs of young people, she held networking activities and cultural and sports competitions in the factory. "There are many young men in our branch, and the place is biased, so we often find a normal school to associate," Zhang Chunyan said with a smile, she is a "red bride" for many people in the unit. Focusing on the development of enterprises and the development of young individuals, she organized safe production, labor competitions, and post training, stimulated the enthusiasm of the young members of the league to love their posts and dedicate themselves to their work, and a group of young post experts grew into the backbone of Hangzhou Steel. In the years when Hanggang served as a regiment cadre, she treated precision instruments like a delicate instrument, meticulously cared for and cared for the young people in the factory, and kept their urgent expectations in mind.

"Either don't do it, or if you do it, you will do it well." At the beginning of her post in the regiment, Zhang Chunyan was still studying instrument technology at the night school, and later she successively read the economic management major of the University of Electricity and Power, the correspondence class of the Party School of the Provincial Party Committee, and the economic management major of the Correspondence College of the Central Party School, and her position also changed from deputy secretary and secretary of the Youth League Committee of the branch to deputy secretary and secretary of the Hangzhou Steel Youth League Committee. With her hard-working spirit and excellent achievements, she has won the trust of young people.

In 1995, the "Hope Project" landed in Zhejiang, and Zhang Chunyan has since taken root in the Provincial Hope Project Service Center (later renamed the Provincial Youth Office). This transfer is not a promotion, but Zhang Chunyan took office with joy and excitement. "It is a meaningful thing to raise social funds widely so that every child from a poor family can go to school, and I want to use my work to bring new hope to these poor children and poor families." Zhang Chunyan said that in Hangzhou Steel, she fell deeply in love with youth work, and originally thought that as she grew older, she might transfer to other positions. I can't imagine that I can come to the center and continue to work for the growth and development of teenagers, which is very much in line with her heart and makes her passion multiply.

In the second year of working at the center, she personally began to donate to a poor teenager in Suichang's Zhedaikou Township, sending books, stationery and pocket money every month for five consecutive years. At the beginning, the child was embarrassed to correspond with Zhang Chunyan because of poor grades, and the teenager's mother, sister, and brother returned more than twenty letters one after another, and the yellowed letter paper was full of gratitude. In the first year of junior high school, through help, the teenager had the opportunity to come to Hangzhou to participate in the summer camp, Zhang Chunyan finally met him, she has always encouraged the child to insist on learning, do not be discouraged because of a momentary failure.

"Do you want ice cream?" Zhang Chunyan looked at him introverted and wanted to open the topic with snacks, but the teenager was the first time he heard about the fresh thing of ice cream. The teenager took the first ice cream in his life and licked it shyly, reluctant to eat it and afraid of melting it. This scene deeply touched Zhang Chunyan, and also made her more determined to do practical things and do good things for teenagers. In the past 27 years, Zhang Chunyan and her team have traveled to 90 counties and municipalities in the province, going deep into every county and township with donation needs to conduct research, compile plans, and provide help to every poor child within their ability.

Since 1992, when the Provincial Youth League Committee mobilized the youth of the whole province to raise funds to build the Hope Primary School in Linghou Township, Wencheng County, the Provincial Youth Development Foundation (Provincial Youth Affairs Office) has so far raised more than 600 million yuan from the society, aided the construction of 599 Hope Primary Schools and 28 Hope Kindergartens inside and outside the province, rewarded and funded more than 200,000 college, middle and primary school students, and benefited more than one million teenagers with various public welfare projects. "Seeing these children smile brightly, I feel that my work has not been done in vain, and our hard work has not been in vain." This is the biggest motivation for Zhang Chunyan's work, the source of her sense of achievement, and the original intention she has adhered to for many years.

In 39 years of work in the Communist Youth League and 27 years of hope project, Zhang Chunyan insisted on putting young people in the most important position in her heart, in her own words: "When you are a league cadre for one day, you must do your best to serve young people for one day." This sentence, she practiced for a lifetime, but also struggled for a lifetime, she dedicated her youth to the cause of the regiment, but also ushered in a new fanghua in life.
