To celebrate World Oceans Day, Blancpain has launched a new "Ocean Camouflage" strap for the Fifty Fathoms 50-Bog Diver's Watch, three NATO straps inspired by three large marine creatures, namely whale sharks, coelacanths and grey reef sharks, conveying the brand's homage to marine conservation.
Whale sharks are the largest surviving fish on Earth, with adult bodies up to 12.6 meters long and 21.5 tons, living mainly in tropical and temperate waters, feeding on small animals and plants. The "Whale Shark Camouflage" strap is blue as the main color, just like the blue ocean where whale sharks live.
Coelacanth is the oldest surviving fish, with the earliest fossil record dating back 400 million years, and was once thought to have been extinct in the Cretaceous 65 million years ago until it was rediscovered in 1938. The brownish-gray accent of the "Coelacanth Camouflage" strap is taken from the scales of the coelacanth fish, paying homage to this "living fossil" that has been subjected to vicissitudes.
The grey reef shark is a ferocious predator with rare gregarious and nocturnal habits, with a shark population usually consisting of 5 to 20 members. The "Grey Reef Shark Camouflage" strap is in a black and gray monochromatic system, reminiscent of the shield scales of the shark's body.
Fifty Ton Ocean Camouflage bracelets were first launched in China worldwide, with an official price of 1500 yuan.
