World of Warcraft – The story of the Scourge Legion

author:Forgetchuan Kitaaki.

The Scourge are powerful evil forces in World of Warcraft, spreading evil, terror, and immortality among living beings. Originally created by the Burning Legion and freed from the grip of demons after the failure of the Second Legion invasion, the army still harbors the same evil purpose as their former masters - to plunge Azeroth into chaos and destruction.

The Scourge Legion is a powerful evil force in World of Warcraft, created by the Burning Legion, although the members of the Legion are human-like, but the surface skin has been rotten and damaged, without thoughts and feelings, they are an undead race, they spread evil and terror among the living, trying to destroy the Alliance, the Horde.

World of Warcraft – The story of the Scourge Legion

Most of the members of the Scourge are made up of various corpses, so their body shape is basically the same as that of the race, but much of the surface skin is rotten and damaged, and even the bones can be seen. The low-level undead have little ability to think, and simply instinctively follow the orders of their superiors, and stronger, elite warriors can think normally, but without free will - all their thoughts are based on serving the Scourge Legion.

This is one of the reasons why the Scourge is so powerful. These undead no longer fear death, they obey the Lich King and his right-hand men, unleashing their deadly power on the battlefield.

Spheres of influence: Azeroth, Northrend, Lordaeron

FrostmourningEveryone knows about the Scourge, and they have been preparing for the arrival of the Burning Legion. The Lich King, who was once an orc shaman (surprised it was once an orc shaman, right?) Named Neozu, with the help of the Alliance's fallen mage Kel'thugad, unleashed a plague of the undead on Lordaeron. This attack has thrown people into chaos: some have contracted the plague and been strangled by it, then turned into rotting zombies (or worse) and got back on their feet; Others were forced to watch the cemetery riot, and their loved ones were resurrected as monsters. The Lich King then set out to corrupt the beloved Lordaeron prince Arthas. Using a well-conceived plan, he toyed Arthas with the help of Kel'thugad and convinced him to kill his people in cold blood after he believed they had contracted the plague of the undead. In order to become strong enough to save his people, he gave his soul as he picked up the powerful, fallen rune sword Frost Grief. He became a death knight, killed his own father in cold blood, and took the throne on behalf of the Scourge. When the Lich King's power began to wane, Arthas arrived and shattered the frozen throne that imprisoned Neozu. The Lich King's power entered him, and Neozu became one with Arthas, who ascended to the Frozen Throne as the new Lich King. So now he's the new Lich King, entrenched in the place where he fell in Northrend. Either way, he's not locked in ice like his predecessors, what we do know is that he's commanding the Scourge in Northrend and the thousands of undead wreaking havoc on the former Alliance land of Lordaeron.

We certainly don't know what the Scourge is planning to do now, but we're all terrified of the prospect of the arrival of more and more undead, powerful psychics, and lichs in our former homeland. It's one thing to fight on the battlefield and die like a warrior. Every day I am willing to face death. But it's another thing to know when you fight that you can't be clean when you die, but that you become a decaying creature. The Scourge is at war on everyone, the Alliance, the Horde, the Burning Legion and even innocent bystanders. You might think that it would fail in a war with so many enemies, but it doesn't. It thrived even more because they got the warriors we lost in battle.

In any case, natural disasters are not invincible. I've killed many, some of them were my friends, and I'm going to kill many more. There's no human, minotaur, or gnome I know that doesn't do that.

What we abhor is that we must desecrate the corpses of our own people to prevent their resurrection as natural disasters. Some people can't do it, because for some religious or emotional reasons, they're stupid; It's better to cut off your friend's head after his death than to wait until he stands up and looks at you.

Fighting the Scourges is something everyone in Azeroth stands for. Simply repeating "killing" a creature doesn't work, though, as psychics are often in the back to resurrect damn things. I like to chop them up and do it with a few sharp axes. The use of fire also worked, because burnt shells really didn't make any useful armies. It is true that people are reluctant to return to burned farmland and house skeletons, but a charred house is better than nothing.

We have the knights of the Silver Hand on our side, but in those days they suffered more than most. Once at the pinnacle of their indoctrination, kind, pure, and bright, they will forever be ashamed that the mighty Lich King sitting on the Frozen Throne was one of them. They agonized over what was wrong, why they had failed to discover the evil tendencies that were apparently lurking in Arthas's heart. If he is a true paladin, like them, then he cannot be corrupted. I think they're overestimating the Paladin, but I'm not going to tell them.

Even if the Paladins are still our most powerful weapon against the Scourge, using their divine power to outwit the undead, the Paladins are not as good as they used to be. Some fell into excessive madness and formed the Scarlet Crusaders, killing both the living and the undead in a desperate desire to eradicate the scourge. Others followed Gianna Proudmoore across the ocean to defend against the Burning Legion, and are now stationed in Theramore. Naturally, they dutifully wiped out the undead found in Kalimdor, but the number of disasters there pale in comparison to Lordaeron and Northrend. We're going to need paladins to deal with the Scourge, but right now they're not up to the job, and I don't know how long we'll have to wait.

Reports from Lordaeron state that the Scourge is currently aiming to hunt down the few remaining rebels, destroy remote towns, and resurrect the corpses of all Coalition cemeteries. Above all, they want to occupy what was once the most lively realm and turn it into hell, subverting every useful person who will be controlled by them, whether they live or die.

History of natural disasters

Invasion plans

The power of the Undead Plague does not come from Naozu, but from the Burning Legion, the legendary demonic army that destroyed the realms, and spiritism is one of the most appealing of the Nasrezm's many dark arts. Fraudster Kilgardan, this guy is always able to learn from his failures and refine his new plans. In the last military campaign against Azeroth, Kil'Gardan used orcs (which Akmund caricatured as the pets of Kil'Gardan and Manolos), but ultimately failed due to Gul'dan's betrayal, among other reasons. So this time, he thought of the undead without thoughts.

Neozu escaped by opening a portal when Draenor was captured, and then fell into a trap set by Kil'Gardan. He first made Naozu pay for his previous infidelity to him, torturing him for years on end. Kil'Gardan then tore his body apart, casting Naozu's soul into a piece of ice produced by the deepest regions of the twisted void. Kilgardan threw the ice into Icecrown Glacier in Northrend, and the Warlocks and Death Knights who followed Neozu were transformed into lichs, earning him the title of Lich King. He also sent several of the Dreadlord's most powerful and cunning officers to assist Neozu in perfecting his psychic skills while overseeing the completion of the tasks assigned to him by Kilgardan.

Out of fear for Kilgardan, Naozu unleashed his plague of undead. As a result, the first plague-infected humans appeared in the Dragonbone Wilderness, tortured to death by strange, incurable diseases, and then rose from their graves to attack the living. The human colony on this northern continent fell like a fallen leaf swept by a strong wind, and it was through repeated attempts and refinements that Nao Zu's psychic ability matured day by day, and he was no longer satisfied with accumulating strength by infecting human combat power, so the dead in the tomb were also filled by the Lich King. The Lich King can feel everyone's soul as if it were his own. The fury and noise in his soul made him stronger, as if their souls were his necessary nourishment. Neozu controls the zombie's actions like a child playing with a toy to achieve what he wants.

As a result, the natural disaster was like a spark on the grassland, quickly igniting the entire Northrend continent. Aware of the Lich King's threat, Eldraine-Nirub's spider race begins to fight against the Scourge. The Lich King has done everything in his power to destroy this ancient Zerg kingdom and turn its people into his own slaves, further strengthening the Scourge Legion. Later, Neozu realized that the day had come for the true plan, and the best mages of Azeroth began to answer his call to gather on the Frozen Throne.

The dead wake up

When Arthas, Prince of Lordaeron, received reports that a plague had spread from the east and north of Lordaeron, he immediately joined up with the mage of Dalaran, Gianna Proudmoor, and led his troops to investigate. But soon, Alsace discovers that things are much more than a plague. The people he had wanted to visit and be buried suddenly charged at him with decay, and more bodies were gradually rising from their graves. Arthas discovers that the mastermind behind all of this is an organization of necromancers who call themselves the Cult of the Cursed God, and is determined to bring them to justice.

Arthas tracked the Cult of the Damned to Andorhar, where he defeated their leader, Kel'thugad. But as he continues to hunt down other necromancers, he is unexpectedly attacked at the Cowling Crossroads - a massive undead army invasion. Fortunately, Uther, the leader of the Knights of the Silver Hand, arrived with reinforcements, and the prince was able to avoid destruction.

Lordaeron's army tracked the undead to Stratholm and discovered that the entire city's citizens had been infected by the plague. Arthas coldly ordered the city to be purified, and both the brainless zombies and the living who had not been plagued were killed at his command. Later, the prince discovers a Dreadlord in the city, a demon who calls himself Marganis and taunts Arthas and spurs him to travel to the frozen wasteland of Northrend for a final showdown with himself.

Arthas unexpectedly encounters Muradin Copperbeard, the younger brother of the Dwarven King of Ironforge, and his associates in Northrend, and learns that the Explorers Guild of the Dwarven Component is looking for an artifact known as the Frost Grief. Arthas believed that Frostmourn would help him defeat Marganis and achieve victory—and it did grant the prince his wish. But he didn't know that everything he did was within the Lich King's plans.

The Fallen Prince

Prince Arthas Minethir defeated the plague and returned to his native Lordaeron. There he was greeted like a hero, and no one noticed the strange glint in his eyes. Arthas heeded the Lich King's orders and killed his father, who welcomed him back, and his absolutely loyal, immortal army slaughtered the city. Under the command of the Fallen Prince, the Scourge swept through Lordaeron, turning the once most glorious cradle of human civilization into a hell for the dead.

Under the orders of the Dreadlord Tikdios, Arthas exhumed the bones of Kel'thugad and killed a large number of Silver Hand Paladins, including his former mentor Uther. Under his leadership, the Scourge invaded the High Elves' home of Quel'Thalas, leaving the land their decaying bodies devastated and lifeless. The glittering city of Silvermoon fell silent, and the island of Queldanzas was infested with undead. The Death Knight pours Kel'thugad's bones into the Well of the Sun, resurrecting him as a powerful lich.

Now, the Scourge can finally carry out the most fundamental task they have created - summon demons. They captured the Magic City of Dalaran and obtained the Book of Medivan, once the most powerful mage in Azeroth. Kel'thugad was tasked with using the power and knowledge of the Book of Medivan to open a stable portal to summon Akmund and his army to Azeroth. For a moment, the world changed dramatically, the iron hooves of the demon set foot on the once peaceful land, and Azeroth's worst nightmare struck again.

World of Warcraft – The story of the Scourge Legion

But, just as Neozu did his best to thwart Kil'Gardan's plans when he was an orc shaman, it would be naïve of all to expect an old shaman to become the Lich King. While the Burning Legion was busy attacking Kalimdor westward, Naozu quietly sent Arthas to Kalimdor. Arthas found Illidan Fury and revealed the Legion's plans and internal situation, resulting in the theft of Gul'dan's skull and the temporary elimination of Tikdios.

Akmund was defeated by the combined forces of Azeroth in Mount Hyjal, and the Legion invasion was routed. Naozu thought he could breathe a sigh of relief, but then Icecrown Fortress was attacked - his old master, Kilgardan, had discovered the Lich King's betrayal and was temporarily cooperating with Illidan. Illidan stole the Eye of Sargeras from the Tomb of Sargeras and used the artifact's power to tear apart the land of Icecrown in an attempt to destroy the Lich King. Although Illidan's plans were thwarted halfway, a gap had appeared in the Frozen Throne, and the Lich King's power was running out. As a result, his ability to control the Scourge undead was weakened, and a group of undead rebelled under the leadership of the former Silvermoon Ranger General Sylvanas Windranger, claiming to be the Forsaken and taking over the northern region of Lordaeron.

At the same time, the Lich King's foresight led him to discover that Illidan's army had set off for Northrend, so he urgently recalled Arthas. After a fierce battle between Scourge and Illidare in the distant frozen wasteland, Arthas defeated Illidan and ascended to the Frozen Throne to obtain the Lich King's Helmet of Dominion - where he fused with Neozu to become the new Lich King, falling into a deep slumber on the Frozen Throne.

Arthas entered his own spiritual world, and completely wiped out the last vestiges of his humanity at the instigation of Naozu's will. Subsequently, he destroyed Naozu. At this point, Arthas, the unique and powerful Lich King, became the leader of the Scourge Legion.

Ash Priest

The Scourge has launched a massive assault on the rest of Azeroth, and the Alliance and Horde have finally decided to send their strongest army to the frozen wastelands of the north to wipe out the existence that threatens the entire world. Meanwhile, the Lich King ordered the Death Knights of the Floating City Fortress of Acherus to lead an army to attack the Chapel of Light's Wish in an effort to turn the Heroic Spirits of the Paladins there into a scourge. Former Silver Hand Paladin and later Paladin High Lord Tirio Fording led Silver Dawn to stop the attack and successfully repelled the Lich King. The Death Knights of Acheros also broke free from the Lich King's grip and formed the Knights of the Black Blade. The dark army, led by Darien Mograine, will join the Silver Crusade of the Tirio Component on a crusade against the Lich King.

Originally, the war against the Lich King was mainly fought by the armies of the Alliance and the Horde. However, when the Allies and the Scourge were engaged at the Gates of Damnation, a group of traitors from the Forsaken rained plague weapons on both armies that could kill both the dead and the dead. The battle was devastating to the Alliance and the Horde, as well as the loss of his beloved general, the Tribal Warlord Dranosh Sarufar, who was killed by Arthas and resurrected as a Death Knight, and the Regent of Stormwind of the Alliance, Bervar Vortagen, was purified by the Red Dragon's Life Flame as he was on the verge of death, becoming a state between life and death and being taken to the Icecrown Fortress by the Lich King for torture.

As a result, the Silver Crusade and the Knights of the Black Blade began to play a leading role in the war against the Lich King. They attacked Icecrown directly, captured and established several strongholds, and formed a new force called the Ember Saint Disarmament to attack Icecrown Fortress. With the help of the Alliance and the Horde, the Ash Saint confronts the Lich King, and Tirio's holy sword, the Ember Bringer, shatters the Frost Grief and frees the soul within. Arthas has finally been defeated, and one of Azeroth's greatest threats has been removed.

But the danger of the Scourge itself has not been lifted. The undead who have no mind and act only on instinct, as well as the psychics of the Cult of the Damned and some evil by nature, without the Lich King's control, will soon cause a new catastrophe in the world. As a result, Duke Berval Vortagen donned the Lich King's helmet and watched over the Scourge for all eternity.

The Legion is back

After several years of silence, the current Lich King Boval awakens again, but he is not greeted by the wonderful world he once expected. The Legion's starships entrenched in Azeroth's orbit, burning the blue sky to black-green ashes, and the demons' most powerful armies are pouring out destruction on a planet that has never been seen or imagined by the demons with a mighty wave of destruction that has never been seen or imagined by the Demons. The Lich King has contacted the Knights of the Ebon and fully supported the Scourge forces in their resistance to the Burning Legion's invasion without them leaving Northrend.

Religion

The former Archmage of Dalaran Kel'thugad was banished by Kenrito for his study of spiritism, after which he was summoned by the Lich King to Northrend and studied spiritism. He then secretly returned to Lordaeron and spent three years establishing an underground organization called the Cult of the Damned. The Cult promised the acolytes equal status and eternal life to the acolytes in order to make them loyal to Naozu, and as a result, many low-ranking laborers were found to be members of the Cult. To his astonishment, he was able to convince the citizens not to believe in the Light in favor of the shadow power of Neozu. When Kel'thugad succeeded in Lordaeron, he spread the plague on the orders of the Lich King. Soon, many of the villagers of Lordaeron were infected by the strange plague and rose back to join Kel'thugad's army after their deaths.

Kel'thugad

Gender: Male

Race: Human→ Lich

Class: Archmage→ Lich

Subordinates: Kenrito → Scourge Legion

Position: Supreme Commander of the Plaguelands; Naxxramas ruler; Founder of the Cult of the Damned; Lord of the Lich King

The High Lich K'l'Ùthugad, the High Lich Lord of the Plaguelands and the most important subordinate of the Lich King, is responsible for the spread of the plague of the undead in Lordaeron. During the Third War, he was killed by Alsace. However, Arthas still became a Death Knight as Project Neozu did, and brought Kel'thugad's bones to the Well of the Sun to be resurrected as a lich. He helped Arthas summon the commander of the Burning Legion, Akmund the Polluter. However, Kel'thugad's true allegiance is to the Lich King, not to the Burning Legion. When the Frozen Throne was in distress and Arthas traveled to Northrend, Kel'thugad was appointed Supreme Commander of the Scourge with Lordaeron. Now, he commands the entire Plaguelands from the floating necropolis above Stratholme, Naxxramas.

Kel'thugad is a hero unit in the Scourge mission in Warcraft III. In World of Warcraft, he is the final boss of the Naxxramas dungeon. It is voiced by Michael McConnohie.

Organizational structure

Members of the Scourge are easy to recognize, smell, and identify, and don't have to make a lot of effort to join. Whether you're in love with the Scourge, or you're undead or cursed by the Lich King, you're already a member of the Scourge. You don't have to do a lot in this club, your status in the Scourge depends on your abilities: if you're a guy with no strength but no brains, then go and chop wood with the ghouls; If you're an intellectual type? Okay, either go to the Psychic Academy and be a teacher for the students of the Cursed Sect, or you can enjoy a bunch of zombie boys running errands for you.

The first members of the Scourge Club were humans who died in the plague of the undead, people who got sick and died in the plague, and then got back on their feet as zombies. This city-destroying technique proved to be less effective than the Lich King had hoped for, which was obvious---- as he began ordering his wizards to desecrate the cemetery in order to create more members faster.

There are only two things that can separate the Scourge minions from the Lich King's will: 1) a pause in any form of the Lich King's power, and 2) a good old-fashioned axe. Of course, you'll have to cut off their heads, or you'll find out that they're indeed immortal. Scourge creatures are commanded to act according to the will of the Lich King, and will do so with blind zeal.
