In November 1944, after the U.S. military took Saipan, 88 B-29 bombers visited the skies over Japan for the first time, using Saipan as a springboard, and this time, there was no splash.

After the US military studied, it was found that the height of the bomber was too high and the bombing was inaccurate, so it did not hit important military targets. Most of the houses in Japan are wooden structures, so a famous project was born. Later known as "Li Mei BARBECUE"

The B-29 bombers carried 9 tons of bombs, all of which were replaced by incendiary bombs. This is a very dangerous gamble, because if you run into Japan's air defense forces without attack missiles, you are passively attacking. The U.S. military's gamble proved to be correct, because most of Japan's troops were sent to the Pacific Theater, and domestic air defense was very empty. On February 23, 1945, Li Mei Barbecue was officially opened.

B-29 bombers dropped a total of 45 tons of incendiary bombs, destroyed 27,920 homes and razed 2.56 square kilometers of land.

After tasting the sweetness, on March 7, 1945, 334 B-29s pounced on Tokyo, and more than 2,000 tons of incendiary bombs were dropped. Many people were burned to the river by fire, but they were shocked to find that this fire could not be extinguished even if they jumped into the river.

This is the fire of hell. There is no way to extinguish it unless it burns out. That night, 90,000 people were burned to death in Tokyo, another 100,000 were seriously injured, and 41 square kilometers of land were reduced to fire. The number of casualties at this barbecue far exceeded that of the atomic bomb.

But the Japanese emperor still did not surrender, why? Because incendiary bombs can burn civilians, but they can't burn the emperor. The next two atomic bombs finally made the emperor realize that as long as it was in Japan, there was no safe place. That's why I surrendered.
