On the afternoon of May 7, BYD posted a hot search on Weibo, caused by the suspected nosebleeds of many children caused by pollution in BYD's factory.

Many residents of The Yuhua District of Changsha, Hunan Province, said that the BYD Changsha Automobile Factory near the residential area emitted exhaust gases and pungent smells, and since April this year, hundreds of children in the community have experienced nosebleeds, and adults have also experienced nausea, vomiting, coughing and other situations.

The events unfolded in twists and turns. On the evening of the same day, BYD said that the network transmission "excessive discharge caused nosebleeds" is a malicious fabrication of the association, and has been reported to the police.

But the next day, on the evening of May 8, Changsha announced the establishment of an investigation team to investigate the gas emissions of bydir's yuhua district factory. ASD has therefore been on the hot search.

After a series of reversals, there are those who scold, those who maintain, and those who watch. At present, there is no evidence that residents' physical discomfort is related to the BYD plant in Changsha.

Environmental protection storm

According to public information, Changsha BYD Automobile Co., Ltd. was established in August 2009, currently has more than 17,000 employees, is the first project of BYD Group to lay out the central region, with a cumulative investment of more than 10.7 billion yuan, is BYD's current strategic base for new energy vehicles spanning the two major fields of passenger cars and commercial vehicles, and the most complete product line.

This strategic base is BYD's painstaking effort, but it is also a nightmare for the surrounding communities. According to the questionnaire survey information provided by China Entrepreneur, symptoms of nosebleeds in children have occurred in the communities near the BYD factory, such as China Construction Jiahe City, China Aviation City, Bochang Shanshui Xiangsong, Evergrande City, and Jinghuan Community.

BYD showed the exhaust gas related indicators, which did meet the emission standards. But that doesn't eliminate questions about factory emissions.

As a leading enterprise of new energy vehicles, in addition to technology and innovation, the spirit of adventure is also a very important trait of BYD. In March, BYD became the first company to discontinue its fuel vehicles and focus on pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

At present, BYD's adventure is quite successful. After announcing the suspension of pure fuel products, the performance is very outstanding among many car companies. Two days ago, BYD Automobile announced its April sales data: the cumulative sales of new cars 105475, and the monthly sales exceeded 100,000 units again, an increase of 136.5% year-on-year. In April, the epidemic in the Yangtze River Delta region continued to have an impact on all aspects of the automotive industry, but BYD bucked the trend. In the face of huge orders, BYD's factory is under pressure, and the pressure of speed and time may make BYD take another risk - abandoning environmental protection and pursuing interests.
