In 2009, Changsha BYD Automobile Project landed in Changsha Yuhua Economic Development Zone, which is the first project of BYD Group to lay out the central region.

1. What kind of projects should be introduced for development?

Looking at the world and domestic, energy and environmental problems are becoming increasingly serious, and the "double carbon" goal is a major strategic decision made by the Party Central Committee after careful consideration, which is related to the sustainable development of the Chinese nation and the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. In this link, the new energy automobile industry has been placed high hopes.

Looking at the development of the industry, in recent years, China's dependence on imported oil has exceeded 50%, and it has to think of danger in times of peace. At the same time, the three major parts of traditional automobiles, namely engine, wave box and chassis technology and patents, are basically controlled by European, American and Japanese automobile manufacturers. "The core technology cannot be controlled by people and must be in their own hands", which is the original intention of the country to develop new energy vehicles, which is also the development topic handed over to local governments by the times.

From the first project of Yuhua Economic Development Zone to the construction of Wangcheng Economic Development Zone Electronic Project, Ningxiang Fudi Power Battery Project, Changsha Economic Development Zone IGBT Project, the pattern of "1" to "4" tells us: the larger the good project, the more it needs to jump out of the limitation of "one acre and three points", the more it needs to be intertwined with various regions, mutually supportive, and form a three-dimensional system.

At the most severe time of the epidemic in early 2020, BYD was the first enterprise to resume work in the Yuhua Economic Development Zone. It is not easy to safely transfer parts or equipment from Hubei and other places!

With the support of the Provincial Joint Prevention and Control Office, the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Provincial Public Security Department and other departments and relevant ministries and commissions of the state, yuhua Economic Development Zone has sent letters and repeated communication. Within 6 days, more than 50 trucks transported equipment and materials from multiple parts suppliers back, ensuring the orderly recovery of production capacity.

Batteries, motors, electronic controls and chips are the core technologies of the whole industry chain of new energy vehicles. Located in the Yuhua Economic Development Zone, BYD DM-i Super Hybrid Plant Project, with a total investment of 3.7 billion yuan, covering an area of 650 acres and a construction area of 600,000 square meters, it will be built in two phases.

In the first phase, it undertakes the production and assembly of the motor, the core component of the "three electrics", which is also the only production base of BYD's super hybrid system in the country.

The project, which started construction in January 2021 and was completed and put into operation in July, has now formed a production capacity of 60,000 sets of electric assemblies per month, fully equipped with all DM-i models of BYD Automobile. Entering the workshop, 5 production lines start synchronously, the mechanical arm is waved up and down, and the take, clip, put and weld are all in one go, and a motor can be taken off the line every 3 minutes.

After the project is fully put into use, Changsha BYD has become the strategic production base with the largest number of vehicle products, the largest production capacity and the most complete supporting facilities of the group, which can achieve an annual output of more than 600,000 new energy vehicles, an annual output value of more than 55 billion yuan, and profits and taxes of more than 1 billion yuan.

Although the new energy automobile industry has interference factors such as lack of cores and "power curtailment" in some periods, BYD Automobile has reached a new high, and its monthly sales have achieved "ten consecutive increases".

The core of the project's attention lies in the company's hard work and responsibility for specializing in the core and mastering technology.

The super hybrid technology adopted by Changsha BYD DM-i has revolutionized the design architecture of the traditional hybrid technology based on engine and oil, and replaced it with electricity, with the fuel consumption per 100 kilometers as low as 3.8 liters, the comprehensive mileage of full fuel exceeding 1200 kilometers, and the acceleration time of 100 kilometers is 2 to 3 seconds faster than that of the same level of fuel vehicles.

The "blade" battery set up by Changsha BYD DM-i model has conquered the "Everest" in the field of power battery testing with ultra-high safety - needle prick test. Compared with traditional module batteries, the stability and heat dissipation of blade batteries have been greatly improved, and more than 30% of enterprise costs have been saved. This is the success of subversive technological innovation that pulls the automotive power battery back to the right track of development.
