On April 21, the 8th May Performance Season, hosted by Beijing Performing Arts Group and co-organized by Xinhua News Agency, held a press conference at the rehearsal hall of Beijing Children's Art Theatre.
With the theme of "New Beijing Flavors, New Classics", the performance season will continue from April 30 to June 19, lasting 51 days, with 8 new Beijing flavors and 6 new classics, a total of 14 original dramas staged in turn, dramas, musicals, magic dramas and other art forms competing on the stage. At the same time, the public open day of the beijing performing arts group's theater group in this performance season will try the new model of online + offline linkage for the first time, allowing the audience to enter the theater troupe and theater to experience the wonderful charm of classics and boutiques at close range.
The season will kick off with the original Jingweier-themed drama "Guijie", written by screenwriter Wang Zhili and led by famous actor and plum blossom award winner Hou Yansong, and will be staged at the Beijing Tianqiao Art Center Chinese Theater from April 30 to May 1.

During the May Day holiday, the large-scale documentary epic puppet drama "The Elephant Is Coming" will also usher in a premiere, which will be performed for four consecutive days at the China Puppet Art Theatre from May 1 to 4, while the children's musical "Ice dream of ice and snow melting on the ice pier" will also be performed at Dongtu Theater and Century Theater. In addition, the children's drama "Uncle Rat Rises Late", based on the same children's literary works by the famous writer Ye Guangqian, will also appear again in this season, returning to the Shutu Theater on May 28-29 and June 3-5.
This year is the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Beijing Quyi Troupe and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Beijing Ququ Troupe, the two theaters specially presented the theme song art of the four famous works of "Three Kingdoms" and the two new classics of the Beijing opera "Yanju", together with the commentary "Xiangzi and the Tiger Girl" and the Hebei Zizi "Zhou RenXian Sister-in-Law", so that the audience and fans can fully enjoy the classic unique charm of opera culture.
The closing of the season will be concluded with the large-scale dance drama "Five Stars out of the East". The dance drama takes the "five stars out of the East to benefit China" han dynasty brocade armband as the historical theme, deeply excavates the customs and cultural aesthetics of the central plains and western regions during the Han Dynasty, and reproduces the touching legendary story of national treasures. The drama will return to beijing Tianqiao Art Center Grand Theater on June 10-12.
