On the evening of January 9, invited by the "Meet in Beijing" Olympic Cultural Festival and the 22nd "Meet in Beijing" International Arts Festival, conductor Chen Xieyang conducted the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra and performed a special concert of the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra of the Suzhou Culture and Art Exhibition Week at the Beijing Concert Hall, bringing to the audience two classic works of Russian composer Shostakovich, Symphony No. 10 in E minor and suite of the movie "Oxfly".

This concert is the second performance of the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra on this trip to Beijing. On the evening of January 6th, at the Beijing Tianqiao Art Center, the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra and the Central Chinese Orchestra joined hands with the Central Chinese Orchestra to perform at the opening ceremony of the "Meet in Beijing" International Arts Festival in the innovative form of "Symphony + Chinese Music", leading the audience to listen to the "wonderful dialogue" between national music and world music.

Chen Xieyang said that he has led the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra into Beijing many times before, presenting a number of classic foreign works and outstanding ethnic works to the Beijing audience. The trip to Beijing, which was performed in the two art halls of Tianqiao Art Center and Beijing Concert Hall, also happened to show the development achievements of the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra in the past 5 years since its establishment to all sectors of society and the audience, and sincerely accepted everyone's test.

Cheng Ang, deputy principal of the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, said that the Performance on January 6 was her first close contact with the Chinese Orchestra, and although the rehearsal and performance added up to only 3 days, what surprised her was that "the combination of Western and folk instruments was surprisingly harmonious." The cross-border interpretation allows the audience to enjoy the double feast of hearing and vision."

Looking back on his trip to Beijing over the past week, The Suzhou Symphony Orchestra's Principal Bass Trombone Gabriele (Chinese: Jiaboli) felt very unforgettable and excited, saying: "For foreign musicians like me who play symphonies, it is very exciting to be able to play with the best Chinese orchestras in China! Many of the traditional Chinese instruments that appeared on the stage were new sounds to me, and this experience will become a beautiful memory in my heart. ”

Composed of more than 70 outstanding musicians from 20 countries and regions, the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra is a young professional symphony orchestra that has developed into an influential symphony orchestra at home and abroad in the past 5 years since its establishment. Under the leadership of Music Director Chen Xieyang and Principal Conductor Xu Zhong, the orchestra planned and completed a music season that took into account both classical music art and popularization, and successfully held many large-scale music events and international music competitions, building a bridge between Suzhou and world cultures.

It is understood that after completing the performance of the trip to Beijing, on January 15, the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra went to Macao to perform with the Macao Orchestra, bringing "Entertainment Classics and Impressions - Concert between the Macao Orchestra and the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra" to the local audience. In April, the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra will also invite the Macao Orchestra to Shanghai to perform in shanghai to perform a symphonic exchange of "A Tale of Two Cities".
