From April 29th to May 2nd, the large-scale contemporary dance drama "Dragon Boat", jointly produced by the Propaganda Department of the GUANGZHOU Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Television Tourism, and the Propaganda Department of the Shunde District Committee of the CPC Foshan City (District Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports), was performed at the Friendship Theatre.
The play tells the story of Chinese competitive dragon boats in the new era in the form of works of art, showing the new image of Chinese competitive sports. When the subtitle of "unity and hard work, winning glory for the country" appeared, the dragon boat team members wearing Chinese team uniforms slowly rose from the orchestra pit, and the refreshing heroic posture and passionate dance immediately ignited the enthusiasm of the audience, and the whole performance was filled with patriotic blood in the hearts of contemporary youth.
Tell the Story of China Well, and exhibit a new image of contemporary youth
In August 2021, at the Uminorimori Water Arena in Tokyo, three brand-new dragon boats came into view of everyone present, and the Chinese dragon boat was included in the Olympic arena as a display event. The demonstration, which lasted less than 10 minutes, marked that the dragon boat had already started the Olympic admission process. In the future, more people are bound to see Chinese dragon boats and understand Chinese dragon boats and Chinese culture.
According to Shi Qianjin, artistic director and producer of Dragon Boat, "In the collection style, we noticed that the role of Chinese competitive sports in public diplomacy has become increasingly apparent in the past ten years, and it is the responsibility of our literary and art workers to tell Chinese stories well, establish a Chinese image, and how to transform sportsmanship into artistic achievements in an artistic way." In the past three years, our main creative team has fully carried out project demonstration, style research, and dedication to creation, and strives to make the contemporary temperament of dance drama more distinct through the artistic pursuit of inheritance and innovation, ingenuity and excellence, and create a unique artistic temperament of Guangzhou's local original dance drama.

Version 3.0 is new
Since several rounds of performances in 2021, the dance drama "Dragon Boat" has fully absorbed the suggestions and opinions of all sectors of society, and has launched the third round of modification and improvement, and this performance is also the debut of a new version.
Chief choreographers Qian Xin and Wang Sisi introduced that the 3.0 version not only made overall modifications and improvements to the whole play, especially in the presentation of the dance section, but also made adjustments in terms of stage art, music, lighting, costumes, character modeling and other aspects. In particular, the dancers have better promoted the understanding and performance of the characters through the closed rehearsal of nearly 3 months, and we have presented the play on the stage with high-quality stage standards, spreading the spirit of dragon boats to all over the world.
In addition, the 3.0 version is also more modern in terms of stage effects, visual effects, and intermission. Although emphasis is placed on the expression of form and body language, the new version also makes new attempts. Between each scene, there is no use of words to explain the plot, but let the audience only through the stage presentation, easily understand the plot, so that the plot to achieve organic penetration and articulation, but also more visual impact.
It is reported that the contemporary dance drama "Dragon Boat" will be performed in Shunde, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and other places in Guangdong Province, and will participate in the 2022 Guangzhou Art Season at the Guangzhou Opera House on July 1-2, and then start a national tour.
