On April 21, the "2024 Second Huanglongxi Dragon Boat Festival Dragon Boat Competition Qualifiers" hosted by the Chengdu Shuangliu District Federation of Trade Unions, Huanglongxi Town and Huanglongxi Ancient Town Scenic Area was held at Huanglongxi Zhenshui Wharf, with 33 teams from all over the country and a total of more than 500 players participating in the first qualifier.
The dragon boat race qualifiers will be held on April 21, May 12 and May 25 respectively, and will be evaluated by a comprehensive score method of "competition results + participation times", and about 19 elite teams and 17 staff teams will be selected to enter the finals through professional training and racing competitions.
This year's Dragon Boat Competition will create exclusive installations or works of art for the Huanglongxi Dragon Boat Race through "Dragon Boat + Trend", combine it with trendy wear, and select the most trendy drummers through the competition, making the Dragon Boat Race more eye-catching. In addition, the fire dragon intangible cultural heritage carnival will be built in the riverside area of the track to form a new scene of cultural tourism consumption in a fixed scenic spot. Through the combination of "dragon boat + culture" and the venue culture of large-scale events, the home culture and grandstand culture are brought into the dragon boat race, and the intangible cultural heritage performances such as "Fire Dragon Lantern Dance", Fuhe Trumpet, and Sichuan Opera are integrated to compete on the same stage, and at the same time, the theme content of the sports market reflects the combination of traditional intangible cultural heritage culture and trend culture, bringing rich and diverse experiences to the participating guests.
At the preliminaries of the day, at the confluence of the Jinjiang River and the Luxi River, the dragon boats went upstream, the contestants were uniform, chopping the waves, and the spectators on the shore gathered, shouting and cheering.

According to the organizers, this year's Dragon Boat Race will be fully upgraded on the basis of last year, and the time will last from April to June, with more emphasis on the experience of participants and spectators. The event has been improved in four aspects, one is to improve the track, the track is moved up, and the fairness is improved; the second is to set the end point on the covered bridge, and the finish line is impacted against the backdrop of the cross-river covered bridge; the third is that the cross-strait viewing plan is more reasonable, with the finish section of the Jinjiang Greenway on one side and the rural landscape of the wheat field oasis on the other; and the fourth is to adopt the form of 3 qualifiers + 1 finals to extend the season and have a better experience for the participating teams and spectators. The collision of water sports and traditional culture has given birth to the new trend and charm of Huanglongxi dragon culture.
