Two points must be emphasized
1. Not all cancers have reliable screening methods.
For example, pancreatic cancer, the "king of cancer", only a small number of patients can be detected at an early stage. At the time of discovery, 85 percent of patients were no longer available for surgery [13].
Another example is thyroid cancer, which can be detected by thyroid ultrasound. But this, in turn, has led to over-examination and over-treatment.
Less than 5% of thyroid nodules are thyroid cancers [14], which is a very mild tumor. Many people have undergone unnecessary excision because the ultrasound shows "abnormality".
At present, screening methods for lung, cervical, breast, and colorectal cancers have been shown to reduce mortality. It is recommended to check the previous charts for timely and regular screening.
2. Cancer screening is not a diagnosis, but an assessment of cancer risk.
It is not 100% accurate, but it can help you catch the "clues" of cancer in time.
In addition, early screening is not all about cancer prevention. Primary prevention measures such as smoking cessation and alcohol cessation, balanced diet, and appropriate exercise are equally important.
