As can be seen from the figure, a lidar is used on both sides of the front hatch of the new car, and Wang Weibao, the person in charge of jidu intelligent driving, said that the simultaneous placement of two lidars in the front hatch can bring a larger fov (viewing angle coverage area, that is, field of view) angle, from 120 degrees to 180 degrees of a single one, and in the 60 degrees fov directly in front of the vehicle, the two radars can be covered together, so as to improve the identification accuracy of the key area of the vehicle.
For this design, the ideal CEO Li wants to comment at the bottom: the effect of placing two on the cover or bumper and the effect of putting one on the roof is no different, and even in terms of cost and vibration control, the lid double lidar is not as good as a single one.
