This morning (April 20th), the Passenger Car Sales Inquiry announced the march auto brand terminal retail sales ranking. According to the data, a total of 170 brands had sales models in March terminals, of which 36 brands with monthly sales of more than 10,000 vehicles, 9 more than last month; 10 brands with more than 50,000 vehicles, 5 more than last month. Domestic passenger car sales in March were 1.484 million units, down 15.6% y/y and up 27.3% month-on-month.
Specifically, this month, BYD and SAIC-GM-Wuling successfully surpassed SAIC Volkswagen in terms of sales, winning the championship and runner-up respectively. Among them, BYD performed the most courageously, achieving sales of more than 100,000 vehicles in March, up 53.02% month-on-month, leading the brand sales list, and laying the position of its own brand "bellwether" in one fell swoop. SAIC-GM-Wuling also performed very well, with sales of 75,614 units in March, an increase of 14.07% month-on-month.
In terms of cumulative sales, BYD's sales in the first quarter 262518 vehicles, up 139.87% year-on-year; SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 227477 vehicles in the first quarter, an increase of 14.28%; SAIC Volkswagen's sales in the first quarter 278135 vehicles, although down 24.49% year-on-year, but SAIC Volkswagen is still the first in terms of cumulative sales. However, according to this trend, it may be surpassed by BYD next month.
The main reason for the decline in SAIC Volkswagen's sales is because Shanghai has recently been seriously affected by the "special war epidemic", and FAW-Volkswagen in Changchun, Jilin Province, is also excluded, with sales falling by more than 34% in the first quarter. Saic-GM-Wuling, which is headquartered in Liuzhou, is significantly less affected.
Toyota's two joint ventures, GAC Toyota (NO.4) and FAW Toyota (NO.7), as well as Honda's two joint ventures, Dongfeng Honda (NO.8) and Guangqi Honda (NO.9), both of which have very good market performance. Among them, GAC Toyota was slightly better, with sales of 70,725 units, an increase of 46.96% month-on-month; Dongfeng Honda and GAC Honda performed equally, with sales of 53,880 units and 53,496 units respectively, an increase of 22.53% and 30.71% respectively.
The top five models on the list are Tesla, which sold 65,086 vehicles in March, up 168.98% year-on-year. It should be known that Tesla has twice announced the suspension plan of the Shanghai Gigafactory in March, including two days of suspension of production from March 16 to March 17 and four days of suspension from March 28 to March 31.
The 10th brand on the list is Dongfeng Nissan, which sold 51,070 vehicles in March, up 7.52% month-on-month. Among them, Dongfeng Nissan's Xuanyi can be described as selling quite hot, this model alone accounts for nearly half of Dongfeng Nissan's sales, and their mid-to-high-end sedan Tianlai and SUV Qashqai are also very competitive models.
This month, it is regrettable that Changan Automobile (NO.11) and Geely Automobile (NO.12) failed to enter the top ten of the list, with sales of 48,686 units and 46,572 units in March, respectively.
In addition, among the independent brands, Chery (35,818 units/No.17) with sales of more than 30,000 units include Haval (29,753 units/No.18) and SAIC Roewe (20,613 units/No.19); More than 10,000 units include GAC Trumpchi (19,733 units/No.20), GAC Aian (18,737 units/No.21), Hongqi (16,052 units/No.23), Xiaopeng Automobile (15,484 units/No.24), Euler (13,783 units/No.25), Changan Auchan (12,743 units/No.29), Lynk & Co (12,082 units/No.31), Ideal Car (11,077 units/No.34), Nezha Automobile (10,596 units/No.34) No.35), Dongfeng Fengxing (10418 units/No.36).
At the end of the list, we can see that there are many brands whose monthly sales have not even broken through 10 vehicles, including some familiar brands, such as McLaren, Lotus, Cheetah, Dodge, Dongfeng Renault and so on.
