In September 2021, a cute and quiet-looking girl, Xiao Ya, became a door-to-door service object for special education schools in Wenjiang District, Chengdu. At first sight, Xiao Ya's thin appearance was painful. Through interviews with parents, the teacher learned that she basically did not respond to external stimuli, had no language ability, and was previously able to stand alone and walk slowly, but due to the lack of professional rehabilitation support and systematic training, the ability to stand and walk was basically lost. The family's greatest hope is that she will get up again and move forward.

After roughly understanding Xiaoya's situation, Zhang Jinjian, the teacher who sent her, made a professional assessment of Xiaoya's movement development. Based on the results of the assessment, a home visit plan based on rehabilitation training was formulated.

Every week, the teachers from the Special Education School in Wenjiang District, Chengdu will come to Xiaoya's home as scheduled. Teacher Zhang played Xiao Ya's favorite nursery rhymes to start the training again and again: first passively move Xiao Ya's lower limb joints, and then stimulate the key parts by pointing and pressing, and then fully relax after auxiliary standing training and step exercises. While the teacher insisted on doing a good job in every training, he also taught the training method to Xiaoya's aunt and grandmother, so that they could also take Xiaoya to train. After training repeatedly for a semester, Xiao Ya's ability did not seem to have been significantly developed.

In March 2022, the teacher pushed open Xiaoya's door again and brought her professional rehabilitation training. After nearly a half semester of accumulation, a happy scene appeared: when Teacher Zhang supported Xiao Ya's armpits, she was able to take a few steps forward on her own!
Looking quickly, she slowly took a small step on her left leg, and her right leg also took a difficult first step with the assistance of Teacher Zhang, followed by Xiao Ya's own left and right legs alternating slowly but firmly taking the second, third, fourth and fifth steps. This still seemingly clumsy short five-step road was bought by the eight months of common persistence and hard work of the teacher, Xiao Ya's family and Xiao Ya herself. The teachers' hearts were happy at this time, and Grandma Xiaoya's face was full of excitement and happiness!
Without the persistence of the past, we will not see today's results, and without today's results, we will not achieve greater expectations. The sending teachers will adjust the training plan according to Xiaoya's situation and continue to deliver rehabilitation to Xiaoya's home every week. I believe that everyone continues to work together, Xiao Ya can walk more and more autonomously with less and less assistance!
