Recently, according to the report of foreign media GameRant, Blizzard, which has not yet officially entered the NFT field, is launching a questionnaire survey to some players through the YouGov platform.
The questionnaire asked players what they thought of new technologies, such as NFTs and the level of interest in earning virtual currency through "Play to earn" games, as well as multiplayer games, VR and subscription services.
In response to the report, Blizzard's president Mike Ybarra responded that Blizzard would not introduce NFTs. In addition, Jorge Murillo, a senior designer at Blizzard, has also criticized the trend of introducing NFTs into games. In January, he tweeted that he, as the developer of the Overwatch team, strongly opposes NFTs and will strive to ensure it doesn't fit into their games.
At present, many game companies have begun to sell virtual objects such as NFTs, including Konami and Atari. But the act also drew some criticism because NFTs are not too environmentally friendly.
This year's Game Developers Conference asked more than 2,700 developers about what they do. According to the conference's Global Game Industry Report, most of these developers are not interested in NFTs.
