Qi Jingwen, chief designer of the extraordinary brand of SAIC Group Center, introduced that on March 12, many employees of the design center had been delayed for more than a week due to home isolation; since March 23, SAIC Passenger Car Company and SAIC Group Innovation R&D Institute have called on employees to enter the company's life and production according to Shanghai's epidemic prevention regulations.
The SAIC Design Center quickly set up three pioneer companies to enter the "Sharp Knife Company" of the headquarters of the SAIC Design Center, responsible for the design of the most urgent model and the production of the sludge model; the "Assault Company" that entered the Anting Automobile Innovation Port was responsible for the production of vehicle data; and the "Special Warfare Company" working in Kunshan Huaqiao was responsible for organizing designers living in the Huaqiao area who could not come to Shanghai to start the off-site design work.
Qi Jingwen told reporters that he was responsible for the design of the project and needed the designer and the modeler to coordinate together and work on the spot. Colleagues in the digital design team of the design center, many who have the conditions to work from home, also choose to live in the company, form a complete design and development team, and work together to tackle the project. "During this time, every colleague has done their best, the digital design team and the brothers in the IT department of the R&D Institute are also very powerful, and everyone collaborates remotely to ensure that key projects are advanced on time, and the lost weeks have been snatched back, and the design nodes of each car have been returned." Qi Jingwen said.
In order to ensure the smooth work of the employees, the general manager of the passenger car company quickly prepared bunks, sleeping bags and toiletries before the closed management. Shao Jingfeng, deputy chief designer of SAIC's Innovation and R&D Institute and global executive director of the design center, told reporters: "Many employees' families have encountered difficulties at home, which has brought certain psychological pressure to left-behind employees. Shao Jingfeng, who is responsible for the work of the entire design center, said that if all goes well, after more than a year, the three brands of Roewe, Extraordinary and MG will gradually achieve mass production of new models.
