In the field of contemporary Chinese painting creation, Yang Baimin can be described as a unique existence. The reason for this is: first, he pushed the color of Chinese painting to an unprecedented artistic height; second, color is a century-old problem that has plagued the modernization of Chinese painting, which has been resolved here; third, he used his own artistic practice to put Chinese painting on the map of world painting.

Yang Limin's use of color has become amazing. Mr. Shao Dazhen believes that "Yang Yumin made outstanding contributions to the introduction of color into rice paper", Mr. Tian Liming believes that Yang Yumin "is the forerunner of color painting in Chinese painting", Liu Weidong believes that he "redefined the role and meaning of color in painting", Mr. Li Xiaoshan commented on Yang Qimin's exploration with "his epic", and Mr. Tao Yongbai said: "When I saw Yang Qimin's works in 1997, my eyes lit up and I was surprised, and Chinese paintings could be painted with rich colors and beauty in that way. In fact, Yang has completed his own comprehensive and systematic set of Chinese ink painting techniques, and his color exploration on rice paper is unprecedented and a kind of transcendence.

Yang Limin likes to paint by nature, since childhood copying the "Mustard Garden Painting Notation", when he was young, he copied Li Keyan, Qi Baishi, Yu Zhixue and other people, and the professor of landscape during his doctoral studies was Mr. Fang Jun. As an adult, he also engraved and painted oil paintings, but his favorite was ink painting. He was deeply troubled by Li Xiaoshan's assertion at the beginning of his article "Contemporary Chinese Painting: My View" that "Chinese painting has reached the end of its rope". Until one day, he was drawing in a college classroom, and a person who looked at the painting asked: Why do you only use flowers and ochre in so many colors, and what other colors are there? At that moment, he had an epiphany. Color is the basic factor of any painting, not unique to Western painting, but certainly belongs to the East. Along with that question, he completed the creative practice of ink painting from monochrome to color.

"My painting is to create a kind of beauty, to evoke the beauty that people may have been shielded by reality in their hearts. It stems from my mentality, I don't want to see social violence, I believe that man is the most beautiful creature. I believe that beauty is the source of the spiritual world and soul of human beings. Over the years, I have tried to maintain a simple mentality and a relatively pure state of life. This is Yang Yumin's aesthetic attitude.
