On April 11, China Unicom released a "2021 Terminal Evaluation Report", which summarized and analyzed the 2021 China Unicom terminal on the network, new technology applications and tests, chip and mobile phone network access certification, and smart home products, and summarized and analyzed from the perspective of market and technology. Among them, the most concerned by the majority of consumers is undoubtedly the content of the third part of the report, "2021 Mobile Phone and Chip Certification Evaluation".
In the comprehensive evaluation of 5G flagship chips, China Unicom selected three flagship mobile phone chips of MediaTek Tianji 9000 (MT6983), Qualcomm Snapdragon 8Gen1 (SM8450), and Samsung Exynos 1280 to evaluate the five aspects of SA downlink, SA uplink, heat dissipation performance, voice quality and power consumption.
The test results show that in terms of thermal performance and power consumption performance of 5G mobile phones, MediaTek Tianji 9000 has achieved the first place, while in the SA downstream, voice quality and VoLTE voice performance, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the first, and Samsung Exynos 1280 has achieved the first place in SA upstream performance.
From an overall point of view, the MediaTek Tianji 9000 ranked first with a comprehensive score of 13.49 out of 14 points because it had a relatively balanced performance in all the evaluation items.
In addition, in the evaluation of the overall communication performance of 5G chips in the terminal, MediaTek Tianji 9000 received the only "five-star" evaluation in the whole field.
Specifically, in 2021, China Unicom completed the network access certification test of 21 brands, 129 terminals and chips, including 3 chips and 126 terminals, through the comprehensive evaluation of data performance, antenna performance, power consumption and heat generation and voice quality in the different networking environments of these products, giving a five-star evaluation of Tianji 9000, Snapdragon 8Gen1 and Samsung Exynos 1280 are all four stars.
The MediaTek Tianji 9000's outstanding performance in 5G communication performance is mainly due to its MediaTek M80 new generation 5G baseband. This baseband complies with the industry's latest 3GPP R16 standard and supports sub-6GHz band 3CC 300MHz multicarrier aggregation. According to data previously released by MediaTek, the integrated M80 of the Tianji 9000 has a theoretical peak of 7Gbps at 300MHz downstream rate, an upward growth rate of up to 300% in a weak field environment, and also supports the R16 standard power-saving enhancement technologies WUS (wake signal) and Scell Dormancy (auxiliary cell hibernation), which can achieve 5G low power consumption in multi-application scenarios. This is also an important reason why Tianji 9000 can achieve excellent results in this China Unicom test.
