Documentary "The Word" From Meeting You"

Western Zhou Dynasty
"China" appeared
The first word spoken in the documentary "The Word" from Meeting You is "Medium". The word "Zhong" first appeared in the oracle bones, like a flag waving in the wind.
In the oracle bone, there are many such words as "Li Zhong", what does "Zhong" mean here?
In the live broadcast of "Great Beauty China Poetry Qingming" integrated into the media, Professor Yang Haizheng explained: In ancient times, the flag was a symbol of a tribe. Whenever a major event occurs, people will plant the banner of "Zhong" in the wilderness, and when people around them see the flag, they will concentrate and move closer to here, so "Zhong" has the meaning of the central government.
Later, "zhong" could not only express the orientation, but also became a symbol of power, symbolizing the center of authority.
The combination of the words "Zhong" and "Guo" forms the word "China", which first appeared in the inscriptions of Western Zhou bronzes.
At that time, people believed that the Yellow River Basin was the center of the world, called "China", and the surrounding area was called "Sifang".
This is the earliest understanding of the Chinese nation for the surrounding world, and it is also the origin of "China".
For example, Confucius put forward the concept of "moderation" - being impartial and neutral, so as to achieve a state of balance, integration and unity.
ding
It seems cute
But it is very "expensive"!
This word has two ears, cute expression, and is often used by people to express their happy state at a certain moment.
Its Buddha-figure is actually Ding.
According to legend, Dayu calmed the four sides and ordered the chiefs of the states to gather together. In order to commemorate the commemoration, the bronze of Kyushu's respective offerings was cast into nine large dings, on which the names of Kyushu places, mountains and rivers were painted, and placed in the capital of the Xia Dynasty, since then, Jiuding has become a symbol of the Mandate of Heaven and a synonym for royal power.
Now, Ding no longer has the meaning of power, but it has become a top cultural relic, and all the surviving Dings are placed in important museums without exception, becoming the treasures of the town museum.
There is a very important Da Ding, called Da Lu Ding, which has 291 characters on its body, and its cultural value is extremely high.
The content of the text is also very interesting - it records the admonitions and rewards of King Zhou Kang to a nobleman named Lu more than 3,000 years ago. King Kang of Zhou admonished Lu: "I have heard that Yin Shang perished because of alcoholism, and the Zhou Dynasty prospered because of alcohol taboos, so you must assist me well and inherit the virtues of King Wen and King Wu. ”
Such a record may be the earliest reflection on the misuse of drinking in history, right? What is surprising is that in addition to such admonitions, Ding also recorded the list of rewards after the admonitions of King Zhou Kang—he actually gave fragrant wine.
divine
That word
Most likely from cracks
In the Yin Shang period, from the princes and nobles down to the people of Li, the three most important things in daily life were: eating, sleeping, and fortune telling. The Shang kings even used divination to govern the country.
How are the oracle bones used for divination made by merchants, and how are they used for divination?
Before divination, it is necessary to modify and polish the tortoise shell or bone, and then drill a hole on one side. When divining, communicate with the gods about the auspiciousness of someone or something. At the same time, the tortoise shell was burned with a red-hot stick, and the tortoise shell burst into heat and cracked, making a "poof" sound. The ancients believed that this was the gods "talking.".
Soon, there were special officials in charge of deciphering the cracks and trying to translate the meaning of the gods, from which the word "bu" came from.
sky
Oh my goodness
Is there really anyone in heaven?
Since the Zhou Dynasty, the word "heaven" has been almost synonymous with the gods.
The ruins of Tao Temple, one of the sources of Chinese civilization, were also here by ancients 4,000 years ago, trying to establish a connection between heaven and man.
Archaeologists have unearthed foundations for 13 rammed earth columns. After restoring and re-erecting these pillars, it was found that the ancients used the gaps between the pillars to observe the sunrise light and shadow, and speculated about the solar terms of the year.
It is conceivable that when our ancestors first wrote such an important text, did they also have this question: "Oh my God, is there anyone in heaven?" ”
good fortune
Chinese
A word that I care about in particular
"Fu" is a word that represents happiness.
"Fu" appears very frequently in life and in language. For example, "I wish you happiness", and the words "cultivate blessings, blessings, well-being, and cherish blessings..." When the old is retired and the new is welcomed, every household will paste the word "blessing" on the door.
In the ancient concept, "blessing" is a combination of all good things. As long as it is a beautiful person and a beautiful thing, it can be called "blessing."
The original glyph of the word "Fu" was "畐".
The word "畐" in the oracle bone is the shape of a bottle with a pointed bottom —it may be a container for storing wine or winemaking.
But in oracle bones, the meaning of this word is not clear. Until the Western Zhou Dynasty, this word began to read "Fu", and its pronunciation, meaning, and usage were the same as the "Fu" characters we use today.
What does it mean to say in the Book of Poetry: "Forever speaking and fulfilling one's destiny, seeking many blessings for oneself"? Teacher Chen Ang explained in the live broadcast of the media "Great Beauty China Poetry Qingming" that the sky is very far away and worthy of awe, and human affairs are carried out by ourselves, to prescribe, and to self-proposition, which is called "self-seeking more blessings".
