Tesla China announced a recall of nearly 130,000 Model 3s

According to the State Administration for Market Regulation, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. recently filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulations in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Implementation Measures for the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products.

As of April 7, 2022, the recall will recall a total of 127785 imported and domestically produced Model 3 electric vehicles with production dates from January 11, 2019 to January 25, 2022 (including 34,207 imported Model 3 vehicles and 93,578 domestic Model 3 vehicles). There may be minor manufacturing differences in the rear motor inverter power semiconductor components of vehicles within the scope of this recall, and the component manufacturing differences after some vehicles have been used for a period of time may cause the rear inverter to fail, resulting in the inverter not being able to control the current normally. This failure occurs when the vehicle is in a parked state, which will cause the vehicle to fail to start; this failure occurs when the vehicle is in a driving state, which will cause the vehicle to lose driving power, and in extreme cases, it may increase the risk of collision of the vehicle, and there is a safety hazard.

Toyota is developing autonomous driving technology using low-cost cameras

Toyota Motor's Woven Planet is trying to advance autonomous driving technology without the use of expensive sensors like lidar. Woven Planet told the media that the company was able to collect data with low-cost cameras and effectively train its self-driving system. This is a breakthrough, and they hope that this breakthrough will help reduce costs and scale up the technology.

The company says using a large number of cars to collect different driving data is critical to developing a robust self-driving car system, but testing self-driving cars using expensive sensors is too expensive and cannot be tested at scale.

"We need a lot of data. It's not enough to just collect a small amount of data from a small batch of very expensive self-driving cars," said Michael Benisch, vice president of engineering at Woven Planet.

Apple: Spotify and Netflix are hotter than Apple Music/TV+, so there's no need to open sideload

Recently, Apple shared a new App Store research report, describing that its built-in apps are not completely monopolized, in an attempt to defuse regulatory pressure.

The report, a survey commissioned by economists at Analysis Group, highlights the success of third-party developers in the App Store.

The study comes as Apple faces antitrust regulatory lawsuits and concerns about app prioritization and abuse of dominance on its App Store. Under regulatory pressure, Apple has opened up subscription licenses for backlinks, bypassing system commissions. But the bigger concern should be on the government's requirement to open up its iOS system, allowing app sideloading and optional alternatives to third-party app stores.

Apple emphasizes:

Many third-party apps are the only option for consumers in this category, including social networking, dating services, travel planning, and food and drink.

Strong apps vary from country to country, and many regional leaders perform even better than their global market competitors.

iPhone users in most regions prefer third-party apps, primarily music streaming, TV and movie streaming, reading, communication, and maps apps. It is worth mentioning that Apple also cites the following data from the United States:

-Spotify is used 1.6 times more than Apple Music

-Netflix is 17 times higher than Apple TV+

-Wattpad is 5.5 times taller than Apple Books

-Kindle is 4.5 times taller than apple books

Among many app types, Apple's own apps account for a relatively small share of iPhone users' usage, even though they pre-install some Apple apps to enable the device's core features.

iPhone users often use multiple apps in a category, especially social, news reading, video, navigation, and more — highlighting the ease with which users can switch between apps and the wide range of opportunities available to developers.
