On April 6, according to BusinessKorea, a brother of Chinese display panel maker BOE, is developing panels for Samsung's new A13, A23 and other affordable smartphones, which are scheduled to launch in May.
A13, A23 are Samsung's entry-level 5G models, which are equipped with Tianji 700 processors, not surprisingly, these two models use 1080P LCD displays. BOE is not only an OLED supplier, LCD panels also have a considerable share in the global market, and some of the panels of Samsung LCD TVs are from domestic manufacturers such as BOE and Huaxing Optoelectronics.
The report also pointed out that a display industry insider said that Samsung proposed the idea of producing panels for its next-generation flagship machine to BOE at the end of March, and is currently discussing technical verification and signing contracts with the domestic panel manufacturer. The models that Samsung has not yet released this year may be the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 two folding screens, these two new machines are expected to use screens from BOE.
Experts said that Samsung requires BOE to first verify various display technology tests, and the key lies in whether the company can meet quality requirements such as thermal shock and life test. Xiao Lei believes that BOE has considerable experience in the OLED field and has the conditions to pass Samsung's various tests.
Of course, many previous news also pointed out that BOE has begun to provide OLED display panels for Apple's iPhone, which means that the display quality of this domestic panel brother is good enough to meet Apple's requirements.
Nowadays, the figure of domestic display is more and more active, this year many domestic smart phones have begun to use OLED screens from BOE, Huaxing Optoelectronics, Visionox, Tianma and other manufacturers, such as the recently released realme GT Neo3, Redmi K50 e-sports version and other models, the display effect has gradually won the recognition of consumers.
In the high-end smartphone market, BOE, Visionox's display is also greatly praised, the recently released glory Magic 4 series is the use of domestic LTPO screen, it can be seen that Samsung is still one of the most important screen suppliers in the smart phone market, but it is not the only provider of "good screen", thanks to the progress of domestic display technology, breaking Samsung's monopoly on OLED panels, and smart device manufacturers can also reduce their dependence on Samsung screens.
Then again, most mobile phone manufacturers will still give priority to Samsung's top screen for high-end flagship machines, but Xiao Lei believes that in two years, high-end flagship mobile phones will also be equipped with top domestic OLED screens.
