In last night's Unreal Engine State Of Unreal livestream, CDPR developers explained why they adopted Unreal Engine 5. In their opinion, Unreal Engine 5 is better integrated into the design process of open-world games.

Pawel Zawodny, CDPR's Chief Technology Officer, said:

Our partnership with Epic is just beginning. Unreal Engine 5's support for the open world caught our attention... This also opens a new chapter for us. We're really looking forward to how our experience of building open-world games will be combined with Epic's engineering capabilities."

Game Director Jason Slama also mentioned that Unreal Engine 5 helps overcome design challenges in open-world games. He said:

Open-world games are more likely to have a bad pool, or a situation you have to consider, is much more complicated than a linear game... To do a good job in the open world means that you need a stable environment. In this environment, you can make changes with confidence without worrying that one change will cause errors in 1600 other places.

In addition, cdpr developers also gave high praise to the strength of Unreal Engine 5. They believe that the rich functionality of Unreal Engine 5 increases the flexibility of the tool itself, allowing the production team to test their ideas more fully.

The New Wizard was released in March 2022. This work will not be the exclusive work of a platform and mall, but other details still need to be officially disclosed.
