Cainiao opened its first Distribution Center for the Americas, and parcels from China arrived in Mexico as soon as 12 days

On March 28, Cainiao officially opened its Americas Distribution Center. The distribution center is located in the local multinational enterprise warehouse concentration area in Mexico State, about 30 kilometers from Mexico City International Airport, about 1 hour drive, and is jointly operated by Cainiao and partners. The distribution center is equipped with intelligent logistics equipment such as automatic assembly line, reciprocating one-point multi-sorter, and is equipped with a self-developed overseas distribution system (GXMS).

It is reported that this is the first distribution center built by Cainiao in the Americas, and it is also the ninth distribution center opened by Cainiao in the world.

According to the Mexican Online Retail Association (AMVO), Mexican e-commerce sales reached 401 billion pesos (about 127.2 billion yuan) in 2021, an increase of 27% year-on-year, surpassing more developed countries such as France, Germany, Italy and Brazil. At present, the global average of e-commerce sales is about 16.8%.

With the continuous improvement of cross-border logistics, local consumers in Mexico can buy more preferential products than local products through cross-border e-commerce. According to Chinese customs statistics, the total trade volume between China and Latin America in 2021 reached 451.59 billion US dollars, an increase of 41.1% year-on-year, of which China's exports were 229.01 billion US dollars, an increase of 52% year-on-year. Mexico is China's second largest trading partner in Latin America and the Caribbean.

After the opening of the Mexico distribution center, the timeliness of some logistics products in Cainiao Latin America has increased by about 10%, and at the same time, combined with Cainiao's digital logistics technology, packages sent to the local area will have more detailed logistics fulfillment information, so that merchants and consumers can know the location of the parcel faster and more accurately. Around the distribution center and continuous localization construction, Cainiao will further optimize the full link of cross-border parcels from China to Mexico to help domestic goods go to sea.

"The official opening of the Distribution Center in Mexico will play a huge role in the 328th anniversary promotion and an important step in the construction of Cainiao's local logistics network in Latin America. Combined with the logistics capabilities of digital intelligence, Cainiao will be able to further optimize the logistics timeliness of the whole link. Zhao Jun, head of Cainiao International's export supply chain, told reporters that in the past year, Cainiao's business in Latin America has achieved triple-digit growth.

Currently, Cainiao has 8 charter flights per week to Latin America, connecting Hong Kong, China, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Santiago, Chile. Combined with the construction of the full link of Cainiao cross-border logistics, the time limit for parcel logistics of Chinese cross-border merchants has been shortened from the previous 40-50 days to the fastest 12 days to reach overseas consumers.

It is reported that in the fourth quarter of 2021, Cainiao International's quarterly average daily cross-border parcels have exceeded 5 million, continuing to stand shoulder to shoulder with international logistics giants, of which "5 US dollars 10 days" logistics products have covered 20 countries, helping more cross-border merchants to "send money with a cup of coffee to the world".
