Du Yongping: Born in Shanghai in 1956, graduated from the Oil Painting Major of the Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai University, graduated from the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Major of Shanghai Normal University, and is now a member of the Shanghai Artists Association, a painter of the Shanghai Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, a painter of the Shanghai Xiangshan Academy of Painting, and the vice chairman of the Shanghai Hongkou District Artists Association.

Because of the family style, the mother wants her father's hobbies to be passed on to the children. So, my mother found Du Yongping's first enlightenment teacher, the landscape painter Sun Xinyi. Painting is fun, but it's also a hard thing to do. When children of the same age laughed around the TV in the summer in the "Xiangyang Courtyard", Du Yongping quietly learned to paint at Teacher Sun's house. In this way, day after day, he began his learning journey with Teacher Sun.
After 1976, Shanghai literature and art ushered in spring. When the news that the Xuhui District CPPCC Committee had invited various painting elites and famous people to prepare to open a Chinese painting class came, Du Yongping and several classmates were excited and immediately went to register... Du Yongping was fortunate to be in the class of the famous Mr. Fu Wenyan.
Mr. Fu Wenyan is a proud disciple of the master Zhang Daqian and a Language teacher, so he has stricter requirements for students in theory, and at the end of each period, he must not only test painting but also ancient painting theory. In the face of such a teacher, Du Yongping and his classmates were hungry. So far, the students will still relish the fact that Du Yongping copied Teacher Fu's homework that year, and once made It difficult for Teacher Fu himself to distinguish between true and false.
At that time, Du Yongping was learning landscape painting while also learning flowers and birds with Teacher Zhou Guohua, looking at the diligent Du Yongping, Teacher Zhou Guohua said, I see you can draw, but you must learn to draw, lay a good foundation for future development. Therefore, Teacher Zhou introduced his teacher, Mr. Zhang Mingyan, to Du Yongping.
Zhang Mingyan, who was praised by Chen Danqing as a mentor, taught humorously and humorously, and through storytelling, Du Yongping knew about Van Gogh, Monet and impressionism, and chen Danqing and Tibetan group paintings. Teacher Zhang also collected many excellent sketches of students and taught them to the students, these works have their own characteristics, permeated with a "sense of air" that makes people obsessed... Du Yongping will be immersed in it whenever he recalls this time.
With the encouragement of Teacher Zhang, Du Yongping plucked up the courage to apply for the oil painting major of Shanghai University, and then continued to study at Shanghai Normal University to practice Chinese painting. It was a passionate era, and it was also the time when Du Yongping's painting skills were leaping forward, with energy and momentum, 3 or 4 hours a day, and sometimes even fighting continuously day and night. Is painting a profession or a hobby? Du Yongping was faced with a choice.
Many people say that painting as a profession is too difficult, just love it. At that time, Du Yongping's own company was also doing well, he asked many people, and the opposition prevailed. An old man in the company next door saw his thoughts and said, Will you regret not choosing to paint this road in the future? Du Yongping said, yes. The old man said, shut down the company and paint! So he closed the company and devoted himself to painting.
Later, Mr. Du Yongping studied under the famous Shanghai teacher Wang Jieyin, who has followed him for more than ten years and has been promoted in all aspects on the professional road. From Chinese painting to Western painting, from tradition to contemporary, from form to language, from practice to theory... Du Yongping has taken one step at a time and sought a breakthrough in himself in a down-to-earth manner.
Hard work pays off. The success of the "Qingying" series can be said to be a reward. In this series, Mr. Du Yongping combines the brush with ink painting, which not only retains the ink rhyme of Sheng Xuan, but also has a special visual texture that Sheng Xuan cannot achieve. The broken lotus leaves are still in the water, and the texture of the residual lotus is clearly visible. The paintings are full of Zen beauty, and some critics say that this series not only shows the solid basic skills of the artist, but also amazes the audience in the solidity.
