On April 22-24, the International Academic Conference on Frontier Issues in Linguistics and Chinese Education, co-sponsored by the School of Literature of Lanzhou University, the Office of confucius institutes of Lanzhou University, the Language Contact Research Center of Lanzhou University, the Silk Road Art Research and International Exchange Center of Lanzhou University, and the major project of the National Social Science Foundation of China, "Research on Hui Dialects, Hui Jingtang Languages, and Pediatric Classic Languages in Northwest Ethnic Minority Areas", was held at Lanzhou University. More than 130 people attended the online conference, including experts and scholars from more than ten universities and research institutions such as the University of Foreign Chinese in Kobe, the National University of Singapore, the Institute of East Asian Languages of the Higher Academy of Social Sciences in Paris, Peking University, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Normal University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Shaanxi Normal University, Northwest Normal University, Gansu Jianmu Museum, Lanzhou University, and graduate students from the College of Letters of Lanzhou University.

The conference focused on the construction of the "Belt and Road" and the international Chinese education research, Chinese historical phonetic vocabulary grammar and related research, Chinese dialects and language contact research and other topics. The conference was divided into four forums, and more than 30 teachers and students made speeches at the conference.

Experts and scholars held a full discussion on the topic of the international conference on "Research on Frontier Issues in Linguistics and Chinese Education". Li Lan, a researcher at the Institute of Linguistics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, discussed nine issues in the grammar of Chinese dialects in Gansu. Researcher Zhu Jianjun, director of the Gansu Jianmu Museum, introduced Jianmu from the aspects of material use and shape. Professor Xu Shiyi of Shanghai Normal University explored the clustering system of words composed of "heart" and polyphonic words with "heart" as the constructor. Professor Wang Shuangcheng of Shanghai Normal University discussed the grammaticalization of the Tibetan verb "sit, live" and related regional characteristics. Professor Zhao Xueqing of Shaanxi Normal University introduced the framework and content of "New Practical Literary Enlightenment". Professor Tian He of Northwest Normal University further explained the "Hand of The Sword" in combination with ancient texts and archaeological data. Chen Dandan, an associate researcher at the Institute of Linguistics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, discussed some of the basic characteristics of the Chinese concatenation style in the Qing Dynasty. Professor Min Chunfang of Lanzhou University examined the syntactic distribution of multifunctional markers "up" and "down" in the GanqingheHuang dialect and the historical origin of "down".

The International Conference on "Research on Frontier Issues in Linguistics and Chinese Education" is the first high-level international conference held by the School of Literature of Lanzhou University in 2022. The meeting was attended by both experts and scholars with profound academic attainments and young talents with cutting-edge viewpoints, and the collision of academic ideas and mutual learning of research methods greatly broadened everyone's academic horizons. This conference will also have a positive impact on the discipline construction, talent training, scientific research, and international exchanges of the Faculty of Letters.
