The recent Activision Blizzard has had a hard time. First, on July 20, 2021, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing filed a lawsuit against game developer Activision Blizzard, which included allegations of sexual harassment and inequality within the company's offices.
The lawsuit alleges that the company engages in what it calls a "fraternity culture" that emphasizes men's rights. Subsequently, the company's president, Bobby Caldec, was accused by public opinion of sitting idly by and watching the toxic culture within the company spread and doing nothing, and demanded his immediate resignation.
The Blizzard scandal not only banned it from attending the TGA of that year, but also indirectly affected the development of its games, and finally became part of the trigger for the Microsoft acquisition.
More recently, Activision Blizzard has been embroiled in a new serial case related to sexual harassment.
A serving employee known as Jane Doe in court filings filed a lawsuit in los Angeles court through attorney Lisa Bloom, who said he had been subjected to illegal retaliation by the company after holding a public press conference last December on his sexual harassment.
Jane Doe said that on her first day on work, she had to attend an "induction lunch" during which she was forced to drink tequila and was told by the leader at lunch that she needed to share "an embarrassing secret" with everyone.
In addition, she said she was forced to drink at work and participate in so-called "cube crawls." The so-called "cube crawling" is naked sexual harassment.
According to bloomberg's in-depth report, Jane Doe and her colleagues also had to stay at the company after the daily work and participate in a highly insulting game.
Later, Jane Doe dressed more conservatively in hopes of avoiding sexual harassment. As a result, the company's top management told her not to complain about the current environment, all activities are only because the leaders want to maintain a friend relationship with employees, in addition to complaining may cause "damage" to Blizzard.
In addition, Bloomberg also said that the lawsuit seeks to enforce multiple actuations against Activision Blizzard, including but not limited to firing CEO Bobby Caldike, who should be directly responsible for the scandal, hiring a neutral investigation team to investigate sexual harassment cases, changing human resources departments, and so on.
It can be said that these measures are so targeted that activision Blizzard is even difficult to make a positive response.
As can be seen from the recent scandals, Activision Blizzard is currently in a state of turmoil. At the end of last year, in response to this series of scandals, the company's chief operating officer Daniel Allegri also said that the company's diversity should be strengthened and the proportion of women in the company should be increased. Combined with the news that the employee was threatened, this self-justified clarification is particularly ridiculous.
In terms of games, at present, activision Blizzard can only take the Activision "Call of Duty" series. The rioting subsidiary Blizzard was even more tragic. In the last year, only a cover-up "Overwatch 2" has been held out.
