"Shuangqing Villa" returned to the historical place, and Xiangshan Park accepted a donation from oil painter Zhang Junming

On March 26th, the "Xiangshan Park Acceptance Ceremony of Oil Painter Zhang Junming's Donation of Oil Painting "Shuangqing Villa" was held at the Shuangqing Villa, the former site of the Xiangshan Revolution Memorial Site. At the donation ceremony, Liu Yan, director of the China Artists Association and deputy secretary general of the Beijing Artists Association, and Zhang Junming jointly unveiled the painting. Drawing on montage techniques, the picture of "Double Qing Villa" combines most of the democrats that Chairman Mao met before the CPPCC session, reflecting the atmosphere of Mao Zedong's frank and open listening to the opinions of non-party democrats, and also showing the scene of Mao Zedong establishing a deep friendship with them.

As an associate professor and master tutor of the School of Urban Design of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Zhang Junming has created a number of works focusing on the history of the Party, the history of New China and reality in recent years, and the oil paintings he created by him, "Aviation Newspaper Heroic Model of the Country - Luo Yang", were grandly launched in CCTV's "Party History in The Classics of Fine Arts"; "Chen Wangdao's Translation< The Communist Manifesto >" and "Three-Line Construction" were exhibited in the History Exhibition Hall of the Communist Party of China. "Shuangqing Villa" is an oil painting created for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China at the special invitation of the Beijing Artists Association in 2021 as a special project of the Beijing Federation of Literary and Art Circles to support literary and artistic creation, and has been exhibited in the Red Chamber of Peking University and the Art Museum of Li Keyan Painting Institute.

At the ceremony site, Zhang Junming introduced the creation process of the painting: "I came to the Shuangqing Villa many times, carefully observed the architecture here, watched the historical photos in the exhibition hall, and felt and understood the scene and mood of Chairman Mao's reception of democrats in Xiangshan and the discussion of state affairs with them for the construction of a new China. The explainer here also gave me a lot of help, some details in the picture, such as Chairman Mao using his own rattan chair to transform the 'bamboo palanquin' to carry the elderly patriotic overseas Chinese Situ Meitang up the mountain, after listening to the narrator's introduction, I also painted this 'bamboo palanquin'. ”

Kang Ling, deputy director of Xiangshan Park, said that March 26, 73 years ago, was the day chairman Mao met the first democrat Huang Yanpei at the Shuangqing Villa, which was very consistent with the theme of this painting, and it was very meaningful to hold a donation ceremony today, so that the painting returned to the place where history occurred and was displayed to the public, which not only reflected a painter's sense of responsibility to give back to the society, but also enhanced the publicity and appeal of the artwork to serve the people. It is believed that in the future, through paintings, citizens and tourists will have a deeper understanding of the historical chapter of the CPC Central Committee laying the foundation for new China in Xiangshan. After the donation, the original paintings will be stored in the library, and the copied works will be exhibited in the Red Book House of Shuangqing Villa.

Xu Yinping, head of the publicity section of Xiangshan Park, introduced that on September 13, 2019, the Beijing Xiangshan Revolution Memorial Site was officially opened to the public, and the Xiangshan Revolution Memorial Site includes the former site of the Xiangshan Revolution and the Xiangshan Revolution Memorial Hall. Among them, Shuangqing Villa, the former site of the Xiangshan Revolution, is not only a national key cultural relics protection unit, but also listed as the first batch of immovable revolutionary cultural relics in Beijing. Today, the former site of the Xiangshan Revolution has received more than 5 million visitors. "The donated works artistically restore the historical situation, which can be said to be a new attempt for us to tell the story of Xiangshan Red and better understand this history."
