Mr. Fei Zheng, a famous oil painter, passed away on 1 May 2022 at the age of 84.
Mr. Fei Zheng is not only a witness to the nationalization of Western oil painting art after the founding of New China, but also a practitioner of the era of Chinese realist oil painting. In 1957, Mr. Fei was admitted to the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and in 1962, he was a graduate student of Professor Dong Xiwen, and engaged in fine arts work in the PLA army and the publishing department. Throughout his life, he adhered to the path of realistic art, conducted in-depth and systematic research and practice on the creation and teaching of oil paintings, and created representative works such as "Old Farmer", "Peeling Garlic" and "Spring". Mr. Fei adheres to the direction of "art for the people" and personally carries forward the patriotic feelings of Mr. Xu Beihong and the realist spirit of Mr. Dong Xiwen.
Artistic testimonials
My art education began in the late 1950s and early 1960s, from undergraduate to graduate, for nearly seven years, the last four of which were spent studying in Professor Dong Xiwen's studio. Being employed under Mr. Dong was a precious and difficult experience in my life. Under his guidance and inspiration, I gradually understood art and understood art, and it was from there that the beginning of the artistic path began.
From the art of art for more than 60 years, the artistic concept I have formed can be summed up in one sentence - looking east and west. I stuck to the vast land of the East, but I also paid attention to the West. In my creation, I constantly absorb the elements of the East and the West that suit me, and thus enrich my artistic expression. My oil paintings will always stick to the locality, I firmly believe that traditional oil paintings still have eternal vitality, and I still insist on using my artistic concepts to create works of art that conform to the spirit of the times.
