On the afternoon of March 5, Wuhan Children's Hospital received a transfer application from a doctor from Hubei Pediatric Medical Alliance Hospital and Jingmen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.
In desperate need of transport are twin brothers, just two days after their birth. They spent only 32 weeks in their mother's belly, and both were born low-weight premature babies, with an older brother of 1.84 kilograms and a younger brother of 2.1 kilograms.

Why do both babies have stomach ruptures? Lu Wei, deputy chief physician of the Neonatal Surgery Department of the hospital, said that the clinical rupture of the stomach in newborns is rare, and it is rare for twins to have stomach rupture at the same time, and there is only one case of literature reports that can be found in China. According to the analysis, this is related to the fact that they are premature babies with poor muscle development of the stomach wall.
Lu Wei said that the rupture of the stomach in newborns is one of the most serious diseases in pediatric surgical acute abdomen, and the first 3 to 5 days after birth is a high incidence period, which is initially manifested as refusal to eat, vomiting, mental malaise, etc., followed by progressive bloating, dyspnea, cyanosis, vomiting aggravation with blood or coffee-like, blood in the stool. Acute onset, rapid development, can cause severe respiratory disorders and septic shock, is a high mortality rate of pediatric surgical diseases, once diagnosed should be emergency surgery as soon as possible.
