Su Dongpo is a rare all-rounder in history, proficient in poetry, literature, calligraphy and painting, and his achievements are very high. Su Dongpo's temperament is actually quite eclectic, humorous and funny in his daily life, and often ridicules friends and colleagues with sarcasm. Humorous and eclectic temperament, it is often reflected in Su Dongpo's poems.
For example, Zhang Xian, a friend of his forgotten year, ridiculed him with "a tree of pear blossoms pressing begonias", mocking Zhang Xian's white hair and scourge young girls. Another example is That Su Dongpo tried a case of a monk killing a prostitute in Hangzhou, and after the case was closed, he wrote a poem "TaSha Xing" as a sentence, which was quite dramatic!
On the one hand, this kind of poetry is the expression of Su Dongpo's personality and emotions, on the other hand, it integrates Su Dongpo's innovation in poetry writing techniques. For example, the following poem is a strange poem written by Su Dongpo in his later years, which contains Buddhist Zen principles:
"
Lushan smoke and rain
Northern Song Dynasty Su Shi
Lushan smoke and rain Zhejiang tide,
Not to a thousand hates.
When you get there, there's nothing else to do,
Lushan smoke and rain Zhejiang tide.
This poem is a philosophical poem written by Su Dongpo to his youngest son Su before his death. At that time, Su Guo was appointed by the imperial court to go to Zhongshan Province to serve as a general judge, and at this time, Su Dongpo just ended his life in Hainan and embarked on the road back to Beijing. After a lifetime of wear and tear, there is no longer a generous ambition, so I wrote this Zen poem in the hope that my son can have a Zen understanding of life.
The meaning of the poem is very simple: the smoke and rain of Lushan Mountain and the tide of the Qiantang River are all beautiful and spectacular scenes in the world, and I have never seen nature and longed for it for a lifetime. The last two sentences suddenly turned, when I really went to see the Lushan smoke and rain Qiantang River tide, but there is nothing special, Lushan smoke and rain is also that kind of smoke and rain, the tide of the Qiantang River is also that kind of tide!
The most peculiar thing about this song is that the first sentence is exactly the same as the last sentence, as if returning to the original point, but not palindromic. In fact, this form of writing is exactly in line with the Zen principle contained therein. When you have not seen it, you are full of hatred; and when you first see it, you see only the appearance of all things; when you have seen it, beyond the appearance, you will enter Zen, and what you see is no longer the smoke and rain of Lushan Mountains, but the Buddha, Zen, and the epiphany of enlightenment if there is nothing!
When Su Dongpo entered the army, he was full of ambition and wanted to achieve "to Jun Yao Shunshang", but reality repeatedly struck him, and the footprints of his depreciation were left everywhere in the north and south of the great river, farther and farther away, until Huizhou, until the isolated island of Hainan. And when he was recalled from Hainan, it was already the year of the wind candle, and his ambition was worn away. Su Dongpo could only send his lifelong life insights and Buddhist Meditation machines into this poem, hoping that his younger son Su Guo would be able to achieve enlightenment.
