Deng Yijing's aesthetic research combines the Western aesthetic spirit with the Chinese artistic tradition.
On the one hand, he was aesthetically influenced by Winkelmann, Kant, Hegel, and Bergson, advocating new literature and art.
On the other hand, his ideas on the aesthetics of Chinese painting are extremely rich and profound, and they are a system of their own.
This book is a collection of basically all the surviving writings of the aesthetician and art historian Deng Yijing, covering his research in poetry, sculpture, drama, and calligraphy and painting. Based on modern learning, he studied traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting works, closely combined painting history and painting science, calligraphy history and calligraphy, made a philosophical study of Chinese calligraphy and painting theory, and put forward a fairly complete systematic aesthetic theory of Chinese painting and calligraphy.
