From a great poet to a murderer, why did Gu Cheng raise a butcher knife to his wife? Who is responsible for this tragedy?

The night gave me black eyes, but I used them to find the light

”。 Who would have thought that such a fairytale verse would come from his hands stained with his wife's blood.

The beginning of a fairy tale

Contemporary young people,

I was obsessed with singing idol stars, but in the 1980s and 1990s, among mainland intellectuals, I was obsessed with today's idol-like poetry fever

Gu Cheng was born in Beijing in 1956, and his father Gu Gong was also a well-known poet, and Gu Gong's poems are also included in the textbooks of Beijing Normal University Primary School.

In such a bookish family and father's influence, Gu Cheng also showed his unique talent in poetry.

When we were eight years old, we were still rolling on the ground and asking our parents for toys, while eight-year-old Gu Cheng had already compiled stars and moons into his poetry net.

Tian (made by Gu Cheng when he was twelve)

White clouds are snow-capped mountains in the sky;

The blue sky is the ocean of heaven;

Sunlight is the lava of the day;

Haze is the day coal mine;

Star clusters are cities of heaven;

Meteors are vehicles of the day;

Everything in the heavens can only be seen from afar,

So heaven is the home of fantasy.

The adult Gu Cheng also lived up to expectations, publishing his own poems in the "Dandelion" tabloid in 1977, which was appreciated by many people in the poetry circle, and became one of the main representative poets of the obscure poetry school, and the 21-year-old Gu Cheng became a shining star and began to shine. It was also during this time that

Gu Cheng met the most important person in his life, his wife, Xie Ye. At this point, Gu Cheng's life and his poetry are as beautiful as fairy tales.

Romance and reality

Gu Cheng's poetry is as pure as a child, and his character is as childish as a child, in the fairy tale kingdom he established, he is the king, he is the center of the world

。 It is precisely because of this personality that he and Xie Ye have a tragic ending. Gu Cheng is a wind and snow moon, is a romantic 'fairy tale poet', but the burden of real life always needs someone to bear, and Xie Ye is the person who provokes the burden of Gu Cheng's life.

In 1988,

Gu Cheng and Xie Ye lived in seclusion on New Zealand's Riptide Island to live the idyllic life that Gu Cheng expected, like Tao Yuanming.

In the fairy tale kingdom established by Gu Cheng, it was not that there was no chai rice oil and salt, but Xie Ye alone silently undertook all this. Gu Cheng also found a job in New Zealand, worked as a teacher at the University of Auckland, but was dismissed because the course was boring and few people listened, and at this time, the disaster was not alone, his literary creation also encountered bottlenecks, only a few of his poetry were adopted, and the low fee was simply not enough to support their taoyuan life.

Even so, Xie Ye still hadn't left Gu Cheng, he treated him like his own son, selfless dedication, and he wasn't even willing to complain about him.

And Gu Cheng as a 'child' in Xie Ye's doting, but more and more excessive, Gu Cheng even particularly rejected his own children, because he felt that his children would divide Xie Ye's love for himself, his fairy tale kingdom is only allowed to have one man, for this reason he also beat his first child, and later Xie Ye was afraid of being old, beating the second child would lead to later sterilization, only to give birth to 'wood ear', but Gu Cheng was also very repulsive to him.

The Republic was shattered

This kind of family-like love became more and more deformed the more it developed, and finally Xie Ye was even willing to take Gu Cheng's female lover Ying'er to The Riptide Island and live together with the three of them

。 Xie Ye took care of Gu Cheng like a son and Ying'er like a daughter-in-law. Rather than being a wife, Xie Ye is more like a mother. Xie Ye takes care of Gu Cheng like a child, does not need Gu Cheng to support his family, does not need Gu Cheng to preside over housework, during the day she is a father who works outside to maintain the family, and at night she is a mother who does housework. Gu Cheng only needs to write poetry carefreely.

Gu Cheng Xie Ye

But how can this deformed relationship last?

The burden of the family, all the expenses of the three people, are all pressed on Xie Ye alone, and Xie Ye's carrying capacity as a woman is limited

。 Xie Ye, who has paid silently for more than ten years, finally failed to do a good job in the role of mother. Xie Ye was planning to leave Gu Cheng's castle, and she couldn't carry all this alone. And Gu Cheng's female lover Ying'er, she has no way to do what Xie Ye did, he and Gu Cheng are a type of person, like to enjoy the provision of others, rather than to provide for others. So Ying Er fled one step ahead of Xie Ye and fell in love with an English man twenty years older than her.

For the tragedy of Gu Cheng and Xie Ye, some people think that It is Ying'er's fault, but I think it is not so, Ying'er is just an ordinary person, just an ordinary woman, she longs for love, but also longs for happiness. After Ying'er left, Gu Cheng was very devastated, in his fairy tale kingdom, he was the core of the world, others liked my poetry, Xie Ye and Li Ying'er were infatuated with me, why would Ying'er leave?

It was also during this time that Gu Cheng created his poetry collection "Ying'er", from which it can be seen that Gu Cheng's fairy tale kingdom showed signs of collapse.

When he learned that Xie Ye was also leaving him, Gu Cheng's ideal kingdom finally collapsed completely. When Gu Cheng took Xie Ye's gifts to him for granted, and one day when Xie Ye no longer provided support to Gu Cheng, Gu Cheng felt that Xie Ye owed him something. There was only Xie Ye by Gu Cheng's side, so he attributed all his anger to Xie Ye.

Xie Ye, like a mother, had provided for Gu Cheng for more than ten years, without receiving anything in return, and what awaited her was the cruelty of her husband. On Riptide Island in 1993,

Gu Cheng first cut off the head of his wife Xie Ye with an axe and then hanged himself under a large tree, so that the fairy tale finally ended in a tragic form.

The end of sorrow

The sinologist Gu Bin said to the point,

What few people know is that without Xie Ye, Gu Cheng would have lost his ability to live, and it is also inconceivable as a poet. She transcribed and edited all the manuscripts that made him famous. He could only speak through her, and to lose her was to lose his language and to himself. He knew it, and she knew it. ”

If there is a master writer in this tragedy, then it must be Gu Cheng himself,

Gu Cheng's life is like a mirror flower and water moon. It looks beautiful, but it shatters when you touch it.

Xie Ye and Li Ying'er are both tragic, for Gu Cheng, his life is like a fairy tale, but for these two women, this life is like a whirlpool centered on Gu Cheng. The two women continued to sink in this whirlpool, Li Ying'er escaped, and Xie Ye sank forever.

Gu Cheng as a poet is undoubtedly successful, he injected a dream color into the Chinese poetry scene; but as a man, he is a failure, neither responsibility nor gratitude to his wife, it is this childish and illusory personality that led to the tragic end of Gu Cheng himself and Xie Ye.

He and his fairy tale kingdom were built on Xie Ye's back, sucking Xie Ye's blood, building a fairy tale castle, and every brick was a mixture of Xie Ye's blood and flesh.

When Xie Ye's thin body could no longer bear this fairy tale castle, everything would be shattered. Gu Cheng, immersed in fairy tales, cannot accept the gap between reality and dreams, and blames everything on Xie Ye, who cannot bear everything.

I am fantasizing, my illusions are shattered, my fantasies are always forgiven, but I never let my illusions go. ——Gu Cheng? My Fantasy
