At 2:00 a.m. Beijing time on March 10, Volkswagen's new pure electric MPV --- ID. Buzz was officially unveiled, and the new car was built based on the MEB modular electric drive platform, paying tribute to Volkswagen's classic model T1 with a retro appearance.
Previously, Volkswagen also had plans to convert another classic model, the Beetle, into a pure electric model. Perhaps, the electrification of classic models will also become a new way for Volkswagen to play in new energy vehicles.
New cars will be available with ID. Buzz (MPV) and ID. Buzz Cargo (closed trailer) two versions, the MPV version will be available in 5-seater and 6-seater versions, while the van version is more like the MPV version of the low-end version of the model, only the front seats, the rear is a closed cargo compartment.
The styling of id. Buzz inherits the classic design of the Volkswagen T1, which was born in 1950 and continues to this day. The entire front of the car is a circular arc design like the T1, the matrix headlights on both sides are connected by LED daytime running lights, and there is a large Volkswagen LOGO in the center, and the entire body is painted in two colors, which is very recognizable.
ID. Buzz has a length, width and height of 4712mm/1985mm/1937mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2988mm. More than 21 inches of five-spoke petal wheels are also two-color design, A-pillar has a huge triangular window, the use of suspended roof, in a variety of optimized wind resistance design, the vehicle's wind resistance coefficient is only 0.285.
The rear of the car uses through-led taillights, which are very layered, and the entire tail is relatively square, forming a strong contrast with the curved front. There is also a huge luminous Volkswagen LOGO at the tail, as well as an ID. Buzz logo, below is the license plate area. The charging interface is located on the right rear side, which is convenient for charging when the front of the car is parked outward.
The interior is still our familiar Volkswagen ID. family interior style, but there will be many differences in the details, the entire center console is very layered, the air conditioning outlet adopts a penetrating decorative design, the air conditioning outlet is equipped with a large area of wood grain decorative panels, the light wood grain color is very elegant, and the next floor is the same two-color design as the body appearance color.
The steering wheel, full LCD instrumentation and 12-inch floating central control screen are consistent with other models of the ID.series family, but the car machine system has been upgraded to version 3.0, and it is reported that the actual operation experience will be smoother.
The front seats have separate armrests on the left and right sides and support power adjustment and seat memory. The second row of the five-seater model is quite wide laterally, with three people sitting together without crowding, and the rear seats also provide separate small table panels, but the car is not equipped with a sunroof.
In addition to the electric sliding doors on both sides, the tailgate is also electric. Since the five-seater model has only two rows of seats, the rear seat forms a huge storage space with a volume of 1121L, the trunk floor is so low that it cannot form a flat space after the rear seats are reclined 4/6, and the luggage compartment capacity can be expanded to 2205L after the second row of seats is reclined.
In the power part, the new car will be equipped with an 82kWh (software lock to 77kWh) battery pack, rear-wheel drive, the maximum power of the motor is 150kW, the peak torque is 310N·m, and the maximum speed is 145km/h. At present, the official has not given the data on endurance.
ID. Buzz uses DC Fast Charge to charge from 5% to 80% in as little as 30 minutes. At the same time, the new car also supports two-way charging, such as the storage of excess electricity from solar panels in the home in the ID. Buzz, and will store the power back home at night.
