The Book of Su Shi on display, Chun Zhong Ti, is a letter written by Su Shi to Fan Chunchun (Deru). Fan Chunchun was the fourth son of Fan Zhongyan, a famous politician and writer of the Northern Song Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Yuanfeng of the Song Dynasty, a total of five legions sent troops to attack western Xia, including the Huanqing army led by Gao Zunyu and the Jingyuan army led by Liu Changzuo. The History of Song vol. 314 "Fan Chun's Biography" records that in the last year of the Northern Song Dynasty, Fan Chun was credited with reconciling the contradictions between the Zunyu and Changzuo armies in the western Xia, and Emperor Shenzong promoted him from the Shaanxi transit judge to the deputy envoy of the transfer, which is consistent with the official title of "Transport Envoy Jinbu" in Thezhong. According to this, the writing time of this letter should be the last year of Yuanfeng, that is, during the seventh and eighth years of Yuanfeng (1084-1085), and Su Shi was about 50 years old. The "second brother" in the post refers to Fan Chunren (Fan Zhongyan's second son).
The writing style of this post is natural and smooth, allegorical and clumsy, simple and ancient, with a thick and dignified rhyme. Although there are missing words and damage, it is still a superior work of Su Shi's middle age.
