On the morning of March 6, the Beijing Winter Paralympic Paralympic Cross-Country Skiing Competition was officially launched at the Zhangjiakou National Biathlon Center. In the men's long-distance (sitting) competition, Chinese athlete Zheng Peng won the gold medal, Mao Zhongwu won the silver medal and Du Tian finished fourth. This is the first gold medal of a Chinese athlete in the Paralympic cross-country skiing event and the first gold medal of a Beijing athlete at the Winter Paralympic Games.

Paralympic cross-country skiing is the most widely developed winter sport for people with disabilities, and the men's long distance (sitting) competition is the first event of paralympic cross-country skiing at the Winter Paralympic Games. The Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Paralympic Cross-Country Skiing Competition has a total of 20 sub-events, including short distance, medium distance and long distance three individual events, as well as mixed relay and open relay. Among them, the individual projects are divided into three groups: visual impairment, standing posture and sitting posture according to the different disabilities of the athletes, and the actual competition results of the athletes in each group are multiplied by the corresponding grading coefficients as the final competition results.
The race route requires uphill, downhill and undulating about 1/3 each, under normal circumstances, the difficulty of the track in the standing group and the visually impaired group is higher than that of the sitting group, and the difficulty of the track drop and angle of the sitting group is relatively small, and the route is relatively easy.
